Works, When it stays in place!

Here is the corrected and concise summary using "I": Concise Review Summary After the Garmin Vivosmart 5 failed to accurately track my sleep, I traded up for the Index Sleep Monitor per Garmin's recommendation. However, in three weeks, it has only tracked four nights because the flimsy small/medium arm band constantly falls off my arm, regardless of adjustment. For example, I got eight hours of sleep one night, but the monitor fell off and recorded only five hours. Garmin needs to improve the arm band's design to keep the monitor securely in place for this to be a reliable product.

I’m really enjoying tracking my sleep in the Garmin ecosystem without having to wear my watch at night. The index sleep monitor has been a fantastic sleep tracking companion for me. I’m glad I made the purchase and I’m going to get one for my spouse.

This is surprisingly comfortable. No more bulky watch on my wrist. I don't even know it's there. And I have so far found it much more accurate.

Easy to sleep with and accurate

I have been sleeping with my fenix watches for years but got this so avoid sleeping with the watch. It works as well as my fenix 8 so it is great from that point of view and it is more comfortable. Now, it is not adding anything from the watch so maybe an extra expense not needed.

Great for tats!

I gave up Apple fitness tracking and invested a fair amount of money in premium Garmin fitness tracking about a year ago, starting the the Tactix 8 watch. I was immediately impressed with the garmin fitness tracking but the sleep tracking was all over the board. It was always very glitchy and inconsistent, even when my schedule sleep was very steady and consistent. While learning my way through the Garmin ecosystem and researching, I happened upon information about Garmin sensor performance being hindered by tattoos. Having full sleeves, that immediately made a lot of sense so I purchased this index sleep monitor with the intent of placing the sensor on the patch of bare skin in my upper under arm area. It’s been a couple of weeks and my sleep metrics have been very steady and consistent. It’s completely changed my daily workout regimen because my training readiness and recovery times are much more consistent and manageable. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase and the performance of the index sleep monitor and I only have one gripe. A couple of occasions I wore my watch as well as the index sleep monitor while I slept. In the morning when I woke, they both synced with Garmin connect and the watch sleep data over road the garment index sleep data. On that note, I put the sleep monitor on right before I lay down and I turn my watch off or remove it completely while I sleep. When I wake, I remove the sleep monitor and power on the watch and everything syncs perfectly. Very happy with this purchase overall. Hope this info helps.

Almost great

Bought this because I can't wear my VENU 4 when I sleep. Pluses: Comfortable once you figure out you really don't need it tight. Band blocks the lights so it doesn't wake you up. Has a vibrate alarm that works if needed
Too soon to tell: Don't know how long the band is going to last. You take the sensor out to wash the band but a metal piece stays in where it fastens.
Minus: It syncs with Connect but for some reason doesn't pass on enough data for "Health Status" to work. All of the individual components show up in the Sleep stats but Health status doesn't get any data.

Hi! Health Stats is currently only available on the Venu 4, you would have to sleep with that watch for 3 - 4 weeks to get that data.

My sleep data reliabily resolved
on October 26, 2025

I have a heart murmur, which has always led to erratic heart rate readings during rest periods. My Fenix watches would report poor sleep quality and elevated stress levels, which in turn threw off all my other daily metrics like recovery and training readiness. Curious if it could make a difference, I tried the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor. The impact was immediate and impressive: my nightly stress scores plummeted from the fifties to the teens, and my average sleep scores climbed from 65 to 81. Finally, my data feels reliable and actionable—highly recommend for anyone with similar HR challenges.

Redundant if you already possess a Garmin Watch

I bought this thinking it would still track not just sleep, but respirations, log HR, HRV so I could take my watch off at night to sleep, unfortunately it only logs sleep.
