Sleep monitor and instinct 2 solar: not compatible
on September 23, 2025
Posted by: Pasitpon
I am somewhat disappointed by the incompatibility between these two devices. All data from sleep were recorded, but the body battery did not appear. I would like to inquire about the potential for future compatibility between these devices and the anticipated timeline.
Despite following the workaround recommended by Garmin-Tracy, the data synchronization was unsuccessful.
I am very disappointed with this outcome.

Doesn’t work at all

I tried this for 7 days. It was able to successfully log sleep on 3 of the 7 nights and only 2 of those 3 were accurate. I opened a support case with garmin and no one ever followed up. I returned it.

Super Happy with fit and info

Purchased the Index Sleep Monitor as I just cannot wear a watch in bed. The band is super comfortable and you don't notice it on at all. The data each day is nice to have and Garmin Connect allows you to add notes for each day as well. I am also using the new "Lifestyle" tracking in Garmin Connect as well to track certain daily activities. I would recommend this product.

Great sleep tracking.

Sleep tracking appears to be more accurate than my Fenix 8 due to the band (and the Fenix 8 is great) of the the Index being tight consistently on my upper arm. On my 3rd week of using it. Syncs quickly in the morning. I have not had success with the on board alarm(s) working yet. I set the alarms for each day on the Garmin Connect application, but so far, I have not noticed them going off, and I have them set at the highest vibration rate. I wish the battery life was better, I'm getting about 5 to 6 days on a charge. The band is very comfortable, so comfortable I forget it's there! It uses the same charge cable design as other Garmin products (Fenix watches). The status lights are easy to understand regarding pairing and when the charge is complete.

If you're not feeling the alarm vibrations from your Index Sleep Monitor on the highest vibration setting, we'd like to see if we can help. Please call Garmin Support at 800-800-1020 so we can discuss this in further detail and troubleshoot this with you. *KC

Super comfortable

Been using for a week, cannot even notice that I'm wearing it. Best sleep tracker i have tried. Paired with a watch during the day provides all the data as any other wrist based or ring based device with better comfort.

Does not actually track sleep

The band has been very disappointing. If I wake up in the middle of the night it'll count it as the end of the sleep and not track sleeping for the rest of the night. Additionally it often fails to start when I fall asleep and seems to begin tracking an hour or so later than my watch. Overall an extreme disappointment for the price.

If you are wearing your watch and the Index Sleep Monitor at the same time then whatever device you have set as your primary wearable and training device is going to record sleep over the Index Sleep Monitor. I've linked an FAQ article for this below. http://ms.spr.ly/6429sxQCV

Not recommended!

I was looking forward to Garmin's sleep monitor since I don't like to wear my watch during the night. After trying it for almost two weeks I am dissappointed. Of twelve readings three are completely wrong. I slept 8 hours, but the monitor recorded only 2 hours or so, interestingly during a time when I didn't even wear the band. Manual correction didn't change anything, the sleep is saved forever as "poor". What bothers me most is the fact that one cannot delete any data, so the average of my sleep shows to be much worse than it really is. The bad readings influence the training data, so it is really a problem. Garmin should at least allow to delete wrong readings if it is not able to sell a functioning tool. Considering the price I can only recommend to stay away from it - or buy some high class unit from another company!

I like it better than wearing my watch to sleep!

After trying many times, I gave up on wearing my watch to sleep. I ended up sleeping worse than I did with it off. I took a chance in buying this and it did not disappoint. The data is nearly identical to the watch, but this is more comfortable for me. I don't feel it while I sleep and the haptic alarm is a nice feature. I gave it 4/5 stars because of the price point. I feel for what it is and the data it provides, the index sleep monitor is an expensive alternative to wearing the watch while sleeping. If you're able to, just wear your watch to sleep. If you're like me and can't do it no matter how many times you try, you want to track your sleep, and you have some extra funds to spare, go ahead and purchase this one!
