I like it because it's a lovely white that matches my kitchen and gets great reception. If you have problems with it getting reception (as I did at first), plug in the antenna they include. I just plugged it in and placed it on my window sil (still bundled) and all was fine. When someone removes the bundled antenna from the sil, I notice the reception isn't as good. Also, easy to plug in a cable (not included) to plug into your phone and play those tunes in AUX mode.

I have no idea why they put the warning/ con about not producing very loud music. These people must be deaf from listening to music too loud for too long. I barely have the volume at about a fourth and I can hear it across my home.I compared this to the Bose Radios I researched. The Bose radios produce music around the room compared to any other radio but they are expensive. In addition, the later models are only operated by a remote control, so no buttons and other controls on the radio itself. Who wants another remote to keep from losing and having to change the batteries all the time. If you lose the Bose remote, the radio is nothing more than a paperweight. Bose may be in a league of its own in sound quality, but that doesn't always mean you have the best radio. Sometimes the little things matter the most. The Tivoli Radio produces a rich sound and able to separate lyrics from the music playing and that impressed me coming from only one speaker. The body of the radio feels well built. I noticed this Italian radio was manufactured in Boston, MA. So the radio is built in the US instead of a foreign country, so the radio should go under higher quality control than a place like China. If you are concern about not having a cd player, tape player, and etcetera, you can always connect a portable player to the auxiliary cable 3.5 mm jack and have it go through the Tivoli radio. I did not notice any cross talk issues using the auxilary jack with an mp3 player.I agree there isn't any setting to control the Bass or Treble, but they may have done that on purpose to prevent any distortion to sound quality at higher volumes.

10 year review!

Ten years. Can't believe we've had this stalwart radio in our kitchen for so long. Audio is still warm and clear.I've read a lot of reviews complaining about the tuner. Typically we keep it on the local NPR station, and have had no problem dialing in the signal. Your results may vary, of course, depending upon your placement in your house, etc.The aux port is used quite often, and has a permanent cord we leave plugged in, as we often plug in our laptops to port music while we cook, or audio from Netflix/etc. The only drawback we have to this unit is that we wish it'd have come with a Bluetooth feature - but that wasn't available at the time. A solid little companion that looks and sounds great.

Two issues encountered, but I'd still recommend!

I've owned my Tivoli Audio Model One now for about 6 years. After years of daily use I can say that the quality and the aesthetics are excellent. My only qualm is that the external antenna seems to actually be worse than the internal antenna option. This isn't a problem if you are trying to pick up stations with a strong signal, but this can be frustrating when you're reaching for the weaker ones.I love the "feel" of the tuner knob on this thing. It has resistance when you turn it that allows you to fine tune your station search (analog!). I will say, however, that my knob - after years of use - has drifted a bit and the marking on the dial points to about 0.5 MHz off of what it shows.Despite the fact that I have encountered two minor issues (knob drift and poor external antenna function), I'd still buy another and I'd recommend it to my friends. This is a very solid radio with plenty of functionality for all types of applications.

I needed a nice AM/FM radio to replace an old Sony unit purchased back in the mid-1990s. This unit does everything as advertised: small footprint, nice projection, good reception even without an external antenna. Have not yet listened through headphone jack... No complaints.
