Too much bass for my bathroom - can't hear anyone speaking while I'm in the shower... but overall great sound if you want to crank it.

Recieved my radio and have to say build quality is very good. Front tuning dial, and knobs have a very solid feel. Like the fact that there is an aux. input. Bought this to use out in the garage, and it works fine for that. Four stars because of lack of tone control, and definetly need an external antenna for indoor use. Built in antenna worked fine in the garage.
I would recommend this to a friend!

An excellent radio

An excellent radio. It is compact but not at all small when it comes to sound and performance. Not stereo but you would never know it with the sharp, crisp and clear broadcast quality. The wooden housing makes for a very attractive tabletop piece that will fit in many locations around the house. Highly recommended for a gift or for treating yourself. Half the price of some brands but just as high quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It won't stay on station.

Since one star is "I hate it", I can't really make that statement. But, I definitely don't like it. It has fantastic sound for something with only one speaker, for the brief period it's on station. And that's the gist of my complaint. I have no problem with the analog tuning, in fact sometimes analog tuning is an advantage allowing stations to be selected that digital tuning would have passed over. But the tuning on this thing is horrible, The station fades in and out as you rotate the dial coming in well above and below where is should be on the dial. And when you think you've got it, the second you take a couple of steps away from the radio, the station veers off tuning. And if you should manage to get the radio to cooperate, it won't stay tuned in for long. Straying off into static after an hour or sometimes just a few minutes. I live in a major metropolitan so distance isn't a problem, and I've tried external antennas with no positive result. Basically the tuner on this radio, a key component, is very susceptible to harmonics. This has been replaced by a C.Crane CC WiFi 2 Cherry Wood model, which so far is performing well. Doing what a radio is meant to do; receive radio stations.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Looks alone does not make a radio

Looks alone is enough reason to buy this radio, a mid- century modernist retro thing going on, unfortunately the radio is the weakest part of this device. Try as I might I have not been able to obtain a strong radio signal on any station in any location with any aerial combination even after moving house 3 times. The upside is the speaker is great with a computer/ ipad/ ipod, which is how I listen to radio now, & has far superior audio quality to other dedicated external speakers for the same price.

Great! If you are looking for a plain,simple radio this is the one. Has a deep rich sound,and easy to use tunner knob. Also takes full volume withoutfalling apart.
