This radio has beautiful sound, looks beautiful, and is easy to operate. I needed a SIMPLE radio for my mother to use ( easy ON-OFF, easy tuning), and this one is perfect. Unlike every other radio out there, this one is actually nice to look at, as well as listen to.

Great radio. I live in a very wooded area and was having trouble with reception from my old radio. I tried Sirius and that did NOT work at all. I then purchased the Tivoli and it's been terrific. I rarely loses reception and the sound is great. I recommend it to everyone.

Excelent quality and value

I have the Tivoli Audio Model One radio. I purchased this radio about 3 - 4 years ago, and I use it daily as my computer's speakers. In the past I have used it to receive free radio, but more recently I have been listening to online music, as well as my personal collection. As an independent unit for both radio and audio in, the quality is superb. Sound clarity with both radio as well as the auxiliary input is clear and refreshing. I really love the sound! I think that the initial cost is a bit pricey, however, the look of the unit is well worth it in my opinion. For me, having a speaker that looks as good as this one, and performs as well as it does, the 100 plus price has proven to be a value. So much so that I've bought another unit as a present for my mother.

This is the 2nd Model One I have purchased this year and that should say it all. Absolute best bang for your buck. Great retro look, like my old KLH at college, great rich sound, quality in build and materials, compact enought to put anywhere, great reception in both am & fm, where I live in the Pocono Mtns I can get the NYC news, financial and talk AM stations better than any other radio I've had, and have not experienced any station drift problems.

Beguilingly tube-like sound

The Tivoli Model One has to be considered a near-classic in both audio and aesthetic design. Don't confuse this unit with lesser radios that try to cash in on with retro looks alone (it was co-designed by the late audio legend Henry Kloss, who certainly never put his name on junk). The whole is better than the sum of the parts, and those parts aren't too shabby. The radio reception is beyond reproach, especially AM. There's one weak AM station in my area that exposes most radios as mere pretenders. The Tivoli not only locks it in, but does so quietly, without any of the whistling, wheezing, crackling, and hash most other radios throw in.One could gripe that the headphone (stereo!) and AUX in jacks are on the back panel, but having wires hanging from its pretty face just be right. A tradeoff, sure, but the right one.The sound is impressive: rich, tube-like, and almost plummy in the way of vintage Grundig radios. Yet it works this magic without ever being dark. Turn up the volume and there's some slam you don't expect (there's a port underneath, but never any turbulence even at high volumes). The music really starts to breathe at sound pressure levels that have lesser radios compressing, distorting, rattling, and complaining. At high volumes there's no harsh clipping - just a slight hardening of the sound my audiophile ears pick up.And don't worry about the lack-o-stereo. Better one high-quality speaker with a heavy magnet than two cheap ones (typically with near-zero stereo separation). Speaking of sound quality, it really draws you in. You could call it slightly recessed and polite rather than brash and in-your-face, but that would sell it short. It gets to the heart of the music and almost never sounds flustered or congested.POSITIVESBeautiful design with real wood (not wood grain vinyl);Perfect for non-geeks; manual is a model of clarity;Craftsmanship, fit and finish;Radio reception;Non-fatiguing tube-like sound from solid state.NEGATIVESDefinitely not light, bright, and sparkling, if that's your thing.Too involving for background music. When this is playing, it just flat-out gets your attention. Not cheap.

Contrary to what you might think looking at the photo, this radio has a beige front, not white. The photo is misleading, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Otherwise, a really great radio!!!!!

I have purchased three of these radios in the past couple of years as gifts. They are a great sounding table radio and get great reception....i.e. public radio stations. you can also plug in your ipod. Great radio!!!
