There is zero lift from the mower blade. The front tires push grass down and there is no lift to pull the grass up and cut the grass. Even going over the section again mowing directly over the bent grass the lack of lift doesn't pull the grass blade up to be cut. Any blade that is growing bent at 45 degrees to the ground wont get cut. I looked for an aftermarket high lift electric blade but because WORKS designed a preparatory blade retaining system, no other blades but WORKS blades will fit. I understand that reducing weight of the blade helps battery life but it isn't worth it. I will look to go back to the power of gas.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This mower is very light weight, easy to start, easy to maneuver....even up hill. Glad I made the switch from the old gas one I was using. The mulching blades do an awesome job, hardly a trace of clippings. Did I mention how quiet it is?!
I was skeptical about this battery operated push mower at first, even more so when I took it out of the box. But my wife wanted a push mower, so… When I used it, I was amazed! It is so lightweight and extremely quiet. It was incredible! And the power. It cuts so well, easy to operate and being lightweight makes handling and maneuvering in tight spaces a breeze. It comes with a bagger but we love the channel attachment which directs the grass clippings away from the operator. And speaking of grass clippings, the mower mulches so well they virtually disappear into the yard, keeping the lawn healthy and happy. We love it!
I have now used the 21" mower for a month. It's much lighter than my gas mower and handles tall grass with ease. I have mowed my 1/4 acre lot 3 times on a single charge. It has more than met my expectations!
First mower - ran well, easy to use, no pulling to get it started. The only issue I had was the handle would loosen and I would fussing with that. Most likely there was a simple fix, but after five plus years I decided to upgrade to the 21 inch model and I love it!! The 5.0 batteries have a greater run time, the bag is easier to get off and on, it’s also much quieter than gas models. I passed the first mower on to my BIL who has a much smaller yard than mine- it’s mowing!!
