Terrific Simulator and Launch Monitor

I bought the Approach R50 last month and have been using the Simulator and Launch Monitor both indoors and outdoors. The functionality, ease of use and pertinent data are excellent. I recommend this device for anyone looking to enjoy playing almost any course and also improving their game.

Very nice unit but not for outdoors.

I bought this for outdoor range use. I loved the built in monitor and found the device to be very accurate. The hit zone for the ball was too restrictive and caused constant fiddling of the ball or device. Wouldn’t be an issue for indoors but too much trouble outdoors when taking a divot. I had to return it.

The accuracy of the unit is excellent. The form factor and materials are excellent. The ease of use for the resident software is good. I wish they made it so you could bring in other softwares and other programs onto the same unit being there's a computer inside anyway. At this price point you would think that they'd have a high-end enough computer to be able to do more than just home tea hero. That's my biggest gripe here. Home tea hero is okay. It is generic in a lot of ways though. I would still recommend this unit as your easy to use home golf setup. My son has been using it every night for a few months and his game has skyrocketed. He's gone from 100 shooter to in the '80s. Thanks for continuing to be a Pioneer Garmin.

Game Changing Launch Monitor

The Approach R50 is my 4th launch monitor. I've purchased the least expensive to a too expensive monitor and this is by far the most bang for the cost. Not needing a computer and having all the metrics I can handle is amazing. One of the things I was looking for was club face data. It has that plus a still or video of the club face at impact. And all this without paying a subscription fee!
I did pay for a year's subscription for Home Tee Hero because it has my home golf course in it's 43,000 courses. I was really excited, but found that the depiction of the course is pretty inaccurate when it comes to hills and valleys. They are way overblown.
Overall though I totally recommend this launch monitor

I like the R50 but my first unit went bad, they sent me a refurbished one and the yardage is off really bad. I’ve tried all the tricks I learned setting up the first one but no luck. I don’t understand why a 5k unit can’t get the yard correct!

I’ve had the R50 for about a month and I love it. It took a little while to get used to all the features that it offers, but they were easy to understand. The 42,000 courses are amazing
