Nice alternative to Garmin

Overall, I have been impressed with the T-rex. It has a beautiful large bright watch face. Navigating the menus is intuitive, much easier than Garmin. Downloading maps and routes is as easy as Garmin. You can’t map out routes on the watch, and the the maps are not as detailed as on the Garmin, but I prefer to create routes on my phone or laptop anyway and I can identify points of interest on these devices. I like the data fields for workouts. Even though the watch face is giant, it’s light and very wearable. Haven’t used the AI voice control much yet.
The battery is not exactly what I had hoped. Adjusting the GPS, turning off nighttime monitoring, turning off HR monitoring except during workout, and turning off always on watch face, I get about 7-8 days. I was hoping for 2 weeks. There are many watch faces, but they are not organized well or searchable. Most of the watch faces can’t be modified or modified much. The phone app is not as intuitive to navigate as the watch.
Overall, after using it for one month, I’m happy with this watch. I purchased it to use for multiday backcountry trips and wish the battery was a little more robust. For a long trip, I will have to charge it with a power bank. At about 1/5 the price of the Fenix 8 AMOLED, I think it’s a better value.

The steps count and heart rate measurement are questionable. I have compared these results to previous baseline results from other devices from other brands that I find reliable for many years.

The watch has a quick response..large screen and lightweight the watch is leaps and bounds improved from first generation T Rex (also a good Smart watch).. watch connects to app within seconds ..I am impressed with how well the watch works..please note I do not use all the functions of the watch ..how I personally use the watch works well for me..

Initial impressions and rating.

So far so good. I have had the T-Rex 3 for almost two weeks and have been impressed. The battery life is good, although I do not see it achieving what Amazfit says it can do. I am seeing about 9% battery drop per day which means I am only getting about 10-11 days max from a full charge, and since I usually only let it get down to about 10% at the lowest, and 90% at the highest between charges I expect to be recharging about every 9 days at least.
I like the mapping capabilities as well as the voice assistant. Although a fairly large watch I do not find it too large and it is comfortable to wear. Given the great features and long battery life, as well as the great price, I am pretty sure I will be happy with the watch as long as it keeps performing for a few years. I had poor experiences with my Amazfit Bip S Lite watches which I loved for their phenominal battery life and always on display. But I found they only lived for a couple of years before dying on me. Why couldn’t Amazfit come up with a more reliable inexpensive watch like that? It was a great smart watch, even if it was only a simple fitness watch.
