Ring vs Roku

We have been Ring users since 2015, with our first purchase being a Ring video doorbell. I was very pleased with my Ring doorbell and over the years have purchased several Ring brand doorbells and cameras...also gifting them to my adult children. A few months ago, I had the opportunity to purchase the Ring Outdoor Wired cameras at a much lower price than the Ring brand. Since I loved my RokuTV so much more than the FireTV, I decided to try the Roku Cameras.
Over the past few months, I have compared the Roku and Ring side by side. My husband and I are over 65 and we have more difficulty with the Ring apps.. The Roku apps are much more user friendly. The Roku cameras have a much better video quality than the Ring. We are able to view the cameras on our Roku TV. If we hear outside noise or get motion alerts we can easily check the cameras without having to go outside to check. We live in a rural area, so this makes us and our adult children feel more at ease about our safety. I now own 6 Roku cameras (4 wired and 2 battery operated with solar panel) and I hope to replace my video doorbell with a Roku in the future.
Unfortunately, I had just paid for my yearly subscription to Ring before trying the Roku, so I don't have the Roku subscription plan, I do hope to try it in the future after I am able to replace the video doorbell. After I compare the subscription plans, I will review those also. I don't see an option to upload video here or I could show you the difference in the two videos side by side. I hope this helps anyone who is considering a Roku purchase.
Buy Roku...my regret is not trying Roku before I purchased so many of other brands.

Excellent camera for price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this camera set up for a little over 2 weeks now inside my home in a window monitoring our front porch. I am thoroughly impressed the more I learn about it through the app. I love the peace of mind I have when at any time I can check and see what is going on out front, whether it be package deliveries or people passing by. I can set up times and even objects that will trigger it to record. The benefit of having it inside the house for the time being is I can turn the sound on and talk to the dog if I want to. Ultimately I would like to have it mounted in the corner of our porch to oversee the parking area and deliveries but we don't have access to a plug outside yet. For now, inside is actually working for us. The camera takes clear footage day and night, even through the screen. For the price and quality of this camera, I would definitely consider a second one for our back door.

Excellent Features and Reliability

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’re very happy to have this camera up to protect our home and family as well as stay informed to what’s happening outside of our home. It has so many features! My favorite is the talk back which makes it easy to communicate from my phone. The camera can be set up a lot of different ways with a wide range of motions and allowed us to get exactly the frame we wanted. It’s strong and stays put with everything needed for set up. The app is easy to use and allows me to change settings easily and add different “rules” to my own liking. It’s very personalized and allows features to be turned on and off easily. The siren is loud and grabs the attention of everyone around. Overall, this is everything we want in an outdoor camera, is highly customizable, and great quality video and sounds. For these reasons, I would absolutely recommend this to others.

So easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Roku Outdoor Wired Camera is the perfect addition to our home security. I feel safe in that I can see what's going on outside my home at any time. Install was easy, came with everything I needed to mount it outside. I had to download the app to my phone, plug in the camera and then follow on screen directions--total setup took less than 15 minutes. The app has many features which allow me to take photo of what I'm seeing, speak, record, turn on an alarm, listen in. The motion tagging is pretty phenomenal as well, alerting me when a pet is spotted, when a person is, and so forth. It's a really intuitive camera with some amazing features. The videos stream well, there really isn't lagging or issues with being connected to my normal home wifi. The color is great and true to real life. Highly recommend, you don't have to be tech-savvy to use. Anyone can set this up!

Best Security Camera I own

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second security camera I have installed on our property. Very easy to install and very easy to download the app to your phone and pair. All I can say is WOW. I love the Roku camera, it’s like night and day with my other camera. I get a lot of false alerts from my other camera, but with the Roku, I don’t get any. I have it set up for people and pets, so it tells me every time it sees an animal or person. It also told me one day there was a box on my front porch, that blew my mind. I’m trying to convince my wife now to buy more Roku Cameras. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a incredible security camera. Way to go Roku!!

Great little camera!

My family and I now have that sense of security and protection with this camera set up out doors. I have it directed towards my front entry and drive way. I’m able to keep an eye on my house and the security of my family. The quality of the video is Chris and there is no lagging. Great camera

Great camera for the price tag

Just installed this today. Great picture quality. does not have color night vision. super wide angle camera ie. I can see 6 houses across the street from my house. Only downfall for me is that you Can not mount it from the ceiling. It has to be mounted to a wall. Would get 5 stars if i could mount it from the ceiling or have a setting to invert the picture for ceiling mounting
