Great product

I absolutely love this Garmin 1050. It has the features that I’ve wanted and more. I’m planing a bike packing trip in the near future and with the radar rear light and the head light that works seamlessly with this unit is great I have a few miles on a busy highway with the light and radar is a plus for safety. Thanks Garmin for such a fine product

Fast and feature rich but UI needs work

I upgraded from the 1030 and found that (1) location discovery is way faster, and everything is snappier, (2) the screen really is beautiful, and you can turn it down to 70-80% to save batteries and it is still readable in the sun, and (3) it has every feature know to man. However, all that comes at three costs: (1) price, (2) battery life, and (3) usability. It is far more difficult than it should be to do the things you want to do most often. and I am tired of it deciding for me what screen I want to see at different points in my rides.
In other words, expect to have to study the manual before using it. And not the cryptic one in the jox, bit the one online.

Forced to switch brands

I have been a loyal Garmin customer for years. SO when I bought a super nice road bike, I upgraded to the most expensive garmin there is the 1050. My new bike had cool stuff like an integrated power meter and cadence meter all in the crank arms. I watched pairing videos over and over again. I charged everything up and even did a firmware upgrade. After 30 frustrating hours of troubleshooting, two trips to a Shimano approved bike shop, adding new Apps to my phone, calls to Garmin and Shimano help line, with a so called "simple bluetooth pairing"....... the word is out. Your 1050 has not had a software update to recognize shimano DI 2 power meters and cadence sensors. So I returned it. I bought a wahoo. This one is on you.

Outstanding integration with Garmin radar and light! I totally enjoy the bell feature with my Project One Madone. Super fun-fun and really user friendly. Garmin has done an excellent job upgrading the technology. Really good with Di options. I am very pleased.
