This is my third Garmin Edge...beginning with the 810 then the 1030 and now the 1050. Amazing features....the turn by turn is a welcomed feature. It even has a built in bell.

Garmin has introduced a remarkable upgrade to its Edge series with the launch of the Garmin Edge 1050, featuring an impressive 1,000nit AMOLED display that rivals the responsiveness of modern smartphones, while offering superior battery life. This enhancement is complemented by a range of new functionalities, particularly beneficial for group riding and community engagement, including crowd-sourced identification of road hazards. Notably, the addition of a well-designed bike bell stands out as a practical feature. Furthermore, Garmin has made significant improvements to gradient responsiveness and other performance algorithms, resulting in a device that surpasses its predecessors in the Edge lineup.

I replaced my 1030 with the new 1050. I believe this is my fourth Garmin device and it’s the best of all. Great features, easy to read and the electronics are super.

Amazingly bright, fast, loud, and good battery!

As a previous Edge 1030 Plus owner, I love having a large-screen Garmin computer. The 1030 Plus, though doesn't always make it easy to see the map in broad daylight, and it can be really slow in rerouting. The Edge 1050 solves these issues and more, even with a slight expense of battery life, which doesn't matter for me since I rarely ever ride longer than 12 hours.
The biggest upgrade is certainly the brighter and more vivid screen. Not even the bright Southern California sun can overpower the display. Maps are just easier to read, and the added grade % profile really helps, as well. The resolution gets a bump so everything looks crisper and easier to read.
On top of that, there's no lag with any swipes, pop ups, screen changes, etc. This 1050 is smooth like butter and just a joy to use.
The bell is great to have and pairs well with my Ultegra di2's button. The speaker is louder and that helps a lot with the bell, navigation, and my Garmin RCT715 radar.
The menu and OS is a big change from the 1030 Plus and I actually like it, too. There's not anything confusing with the layout and it just feels more intuitive to use.
The other new data that I like as well is the Stamina, which helps you gauge how much you have left in your tank based on your history, your current metrics of HR, Watts (I have the Garmin Rally RS200 power meter pedals), speed, cadence, road grade, etc. I do feel that at any given point this has been accurate.
Lastly, the one knock I do have for the Edge 1050 is that they moved forward the mounting point compared to the 1030 Plus, and THIS almost made the 1050 not fit on my current Garmin outboard mount. It rubs it slightly at one area, and in order for me to use a silicone case, I have to cut off the silicone part that covers the bottom buttons. I do know this is an issue with some other mounts.

It’s a great device, but pricey!

I bought this a few weeks back and am positively impressed by the features and upgrades packed into this bike computer. DC Rainmaker’s exhaustive review was very helpful.
However, based on my usage and my biking routines, I can’t find a very convincing reason to upgrade from the 1040 (for so much $$$) just yet. I’ll be returning this one and wait another six months to comeback to the 1050 in Spring 2025 and reexamine the situation.
A great product from a very solid industry leader!

I have happily used Garmin Edges since the 605 most recently the 1030. When I fired up my new 1050 it just set it up like the 1030 including the interface to my phone and Garmin Connect. I was a little confused about IQ features but by just pinning routes they appear on the Edge. Saved hours in setting up.

I bought few months ago, but the 1050 doesn’t fit well it all garmin surfaces, I have a roval and black inc aero handled bar but doesn’t fit well 1050 it’s too big to apply on those aero handler bars, it’s necessary to have an extra extension of the mount, to adjust perfect , but it doesn’t exist

An ez way to track service intervals with my bikes

I struggled with decision to upgrade my 1040 to 1050. I'm happy that I did. Yes brighter screen is nice. REALLY NICE. Battery life with the 1050 is sufficient for daily rides; even long day rides. If I were bikepacking, I'd go back to the 1040 solar. The best little feature tho is not the e-bell, but the running odometer with the bike profile. With multiple bikes to maintain, I now have an ez way to keep track of service intervals. Thanks Garmin.
