Our first ultrasonic humidifier, and not our last. We have had the filter type humidifiers for years and are very pleased with the quietness and ease of operation of the ultrasonic unit. The only drawback so far is that the tank does not stand on its own when you are filling it. It can be quite cumbersome in the sink.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best one I've ever had

I've had 5 different humidifiers over the past 8 years --- the ones with filters were an expensive pain to clean and the drugstore brands were noisy or minimally effective. This Holmes Ultrasonic is by far the best. I bought it at Sears in 2013; it lasted 3 years when it quit misting, although the motor would run. Couldn't find another one locally, so bought a Homedics which I returned the next day due to a high pitched whistling sound it made. Found my reliable Holmes online at their website and ordered it. Great customer service. It is relatively quiet as humidifiers go and makes a not unpleasant white noise type sound. The variable mist control is a plus.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does not work after less than one season of use

We purchased this humidifier last season for my wife’s parents. Out of the box - the first unit failed and the company quickly replaced. We cleaned and stored the replacement last spring Tonight we brought it out, plugged in, filled with water, turned on AND nothing. Very disappointing!!!
My experience says that the company does stand behind their products but that the product itself is unreliable and teetering on “junk” status
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unreliable

Like others, I emptied packed away my dry Holmes Utrasonic Humidifier last spring; it had worked flawlessly that winter. When I pulled it out of the box this winter, it appeared to be DOA. There was a faint stream of vapor, but my humidistat recorded no change in the room--even when I set it next to the humidifier.
The fact that others have encountered this problem says that there is a flaw in the manufacture of this model. Bummed. I liked this unit. It was quiet and effective--until it wasn't.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this last year and it worked fine. went to use it this year and it does nothing. It's running but no steam coming out. I have my old one and had to revert back to that. so disappointed

I own 5 humidifiers

Yep. I'd like to consider myself an expert. I suffered from horrible nosebleeds 2-5 times a day due to the dry Los Angeles air. At the doctor's recommendation, I bought a Vicks humidifier, but it made a whooshing noise that was just too loud and obtrusive to sleep with. I then started purchasing every different kind of humidifier, and they were all badly designed, hard to fill, or too noisy. I saw this on a demo at a neighborhood Do It Center, and immediately knew it was special. It produces a flow of fog (like a Halloween fog machine, but evaporates instantly) and is as silent as they get. I have owned it now for 4-5 years and use it all night, every night. The tank also lasts at least 3 nights of running at half power. The only issue I found with it is that it gathered a scaly buildup of minerals from the extremely hard tap water I put into it. A bottle of CLR and a scrub brush fixes the problem once a year. I came back to the website to buy another one for my college dorm. Thanks for making a great product!
