I had the chance to try out the Bose SoundLink Home Bluetooth Speaker ahead of its official release, and I have to say, it’s truly an outstanding piece of audio equipment. Here's a detailed breakdown of my experience with it:
Pros: - Amazing Sound Quality: The sound quality is simply incredible. Whether listening to music, podcasts, or movies, the sound comes through crystal clear, with a perfect balance of highs, mids, and deep, rich bass. It brings every note to life. Even at higher volumes, there’s no distortion—just clean, crisp sound that fills the room beautifully.
- Elegant Design: This speaker looks just as good as it sounds. It has a sleek, modern design that blends perfectly into any home décor. The finish and build quality are top-notch, giving it a premium feel. It’s the kind of speaker you can put on display in any room, and it’ll instantly elevate the space. I have mine as the focal point of my living room.
- Easy Pairing: Pairing the speaker with my phone was effortless. It connected almost instantly, and there were no connectivity issues. It’s reliable and works perfectly every time, which is crucial when you want to press play and enjoy.
- Room-Filling Sound: This speaker can easily fill an entire room with rich sound, making it perfect for house parties, movie nights, or daily use. Even in larger spaces, it holds up incredibly well, giving you immersive audio no matter where you are in the room.
-Stereo Sound with Multiple Speakers: One of the standout features is the ability to connect two SoundLink Home speakers for stereo sound. When you do this, it genuinely feels like you’re in a live concert. The depth and fullness of the audio are unreal, and the stereo separation adds a whole new level to the listening experience.
Cons: - No App Support: A minor downside is that there’s no app support to customize settings or tweak the sound profile. While the out-of-the-box sound is fantastic, having app controls would have been a nice addition for those who want more control.
- Limited Speaker Pairing: Unfortunately, the SoundLink Home speaker doesn’t connect with other Bose speakers outside another SoundLink Home speaker. If you own other Bose speakers, you can’t link them for a multi-room or surround sound setup unless you have another SoundLink Home speaker.
Overall, the Bose SoundLink Home Bluetooth Speaker is an excellent choice for a premium home speaker. The sound quality is top-tier, and its elegant design adds a touch of sophistication to any room. While it lacks app support and broader speaker connectivity, pairing multiple SoundLink Home speakers for stereo sound makes up for it, offering a concert-like experience at home. If you want clean, room-filling sound and style, this speaker is a fantastic addition to any home audio setup.

The style of the new SoundLink speaker is smooth. Lines are stylish and it blends into the room decor quite well. Connecting via Bluetooth to the SoundLink is smooth and easy. Sound quality is great. Enjoy the rich bass. Two Key Disappointments: - No WIFI: Hard to believe a speaker in this space wouldn’t have WIFI and Bluetooth. Both are essential. - BOSE App: Make the speaker compatible with the BOSE app for EQ and other settings.
Response from bose.comBy Jeff, Customer Support, October 14, 2024
Thanks for your feedback regarding the SoundLink Home Speaker! It's nice to hear you were impressed by the design of this model, and I'm glad you found connecting the speaker smooth and easy.
I appreciate your comments regarding it lacking WiFi; this isn't a 'smart speaker' and so WiFi is not needed. It also does not require apps such as Bose Connect or the Bose app to function as all functionality offered by the speaker can be initiated via the on-board controls and your smartphone's Bluetooth Settings.
Thanks again for your review. Should you need any assistance with using your speaker, our team are here to help! https://bose.life/3ET4mCs.

I love portable speakers - being able to set them up in an ideal listening configuration wherever I want to listen. I think these speakers sound great, clear and full, and they have a nice feel to them as I carry them around everywhere with me. I mostly listen to music from the 60s-80s, so I’m probably not the best judge of their performance with more modern bass-heavy music. For me, the bass is perfect.
We’ve been listening to music thru my phone and video through the tv. We watch on a porch where a soundbar won’t work for our situation. We put the speakers on the coffee table right in front of us and are delighted at how well we can hear dialog without blasting the neighbors during explosions and music.
Once I figured out the details of pairing them, their stereo pairing has worked flawlessly. If a speaker has been connected to 2 sources, you can still stereo pair it to another Soundlink Home speaker, but if they get powered off, they will unpair when powered back up. However, if I totally disconnect from 1 of the sources, before I turn them on, they will pair to each other automatically. So I listen inside during the day through my phone and then if watching tv at night, I “forget this device” on the Bluetooth settings on my phone before turning them back on. Then they’ll connect to the tv and each other automatically. (Re-pairing them is also simple, it’s just that when doing it in the dark, there’s usually some trial and error involved and ends up taking a lot longer than simply telling my phone to forget them.)
All in all, these are great looking, great sounding speakers that we’re getting a ton of use out of!

I was given the chance to use this product before it was released to the public. Here’s a breakdown of its performance and features based on my experience: I am obsessed with my music, and enjoy a wide range of genres: blues, freestyle, EDM, downtempo chill (check out somafm.com for an amazing experience), disco, 70s and 80s, cassette-era rock….also love Rob Zombie, The English Beat, and the Electric Light Orchestra. After I set up my speaker (pairing is straightforward and took less than 15 seconds) I started playing a variety of music. For its size, the sound output is quite remarkable. The bass is supremely complementary without being overpowering and the midrange is quite effective at making itself known. This speaker is suitable for a variety of music genres (as mentioned above). The sound can fill any size room with ease – and at max volume, there is no loss of clarity. Trust me, this speaker is booming! I own a Bose Color SoundLink and a Bose Flex SoundLink, and the SoundLink Home truly dominates. The sound quality is consistent no matter how loud you play your music, and you can hear everything clearly even a few rooms away. The Soundlink Home maintains a solid Bluetooth connection within a range of about 30 feet. The connection is stable even through walls. Sometimes I walk away with my phone in my pocket, but the music plays on, uninterrupted. One of the standout features of this speaker is its battery life. On a full charge, you can expect around 8-9 hours of playtime, depending on the volume level. This makes it perfect for extended listening sessions without worrying about recharging. The buttons on the speaker (on/off, volume, and Bluetooth pairing) are tactile and easy to use. Unlike the other speakers mentioned above, the Soundlink Home pairs within 10 seconds. My other speakers usually take 20-30 seconds (I know, it sounds picky) before I hear the “connected” sound. The sleek design makes it esthetically pleasing. I like that the speaker itself does not sit directly on wherever you may put it; the U-shaped bottom frame lets the sound flow out and around, plus there is a thin rubber base which keeps the speaker steady. And don’t let the small size fool you; it’s a solid little gadget. Its metallic silver color looks classy whether you have it on your desk at work or at home on a coffee table. I usually put my speaker on the shelf in front of my bow window at home, so music fills up my living room as I do all my stuff. Now for the downsides: The charging cord is not long enough to plug into a low wall socket and the speaker at the same time, if the speaker is sitting up on a table. Short coffee tables near a wall socket should be no problem. The fabric cover is both a plus and a minus; it makes the speaker look sleek and retro; however, I am concerned that it may puncture/tear. I go to other people’s homes to pet-sit and usually take a speaker with me so I can hear my tunes as I take care of the doggos. This speaker is not like my others, where I could put them in my tote bag and not worry, since they have a solid plastic frame. Perhaps Bose could come up with a carrying case for the SoundLink Home to protect it in transit. TL:DR – Solid, aesthetically pleasing powerhouse of a speaker. You can buy two and pair them for even more room-filling sound. And the price is excellent! This speaker is worth a lot more. REPORT CARD: Design & Portability: A- (because I think the fabric cover may puncture or tear easily) Sound Quality: A+ Battery Life: A+ Connectivity: A+ Controls: A+ Price: A+

This is another great speaker from Bose, and I love the form factor and how solidly built it is. It's sharply designed and blends well on my nightstand and pumps out great sound for such a small speaker. Setup was super easy and I was listening to music in less than a minute. So far I've used it for podcasts, audiobooks and evening jazz, and it's sounded great for each moment with clear voices and enough bass when needed.
In fact, the only small knock I have on the speaker is that it didn't include a power block in the packaging, so I had to go hunt for one. It requires a USB-A block to plug into (not the newer USB-C), so I really had go searching around my house. Most power blocks we have nowadays are USB-C, so it's a headscratcher on why Bose didn't go that route. But to be fair, I forgot all about the power block when the music came booming out the speaker, and I was blown away by the sound. I really look forward to enjoying this beautiful, little speaker for years to come!
