I do think it is a great addition to the litter robot however the only drawback I see as is there is no notification when the litter Hopper is running low. I intentionally let it run out and it does not tell you that it's empty. You have to manually check it, and the only problem I see is when we are traveling. Not notifying us that it is empty and needs replenished until you see the litter level inside the robot falling below optimal levels. It still tries to dump when there is nothing in the hopper.

Nice feature but need to follow instructions carefully

I was excited to receive this item, but it did not work initially because I did not follow the entire installation video that required recalibration. The reason I only gave it four stars is that there is no warning about using corn based cat litter and having that potentially be a problem with this hopper. I only found it out by calling whiskers, otherwise like the robot for this is a great product

Hopper works well enough, but I am now encountering “cat sensor timing” errors.

Hopper works well enough. Good quality. Instructions not to quite straightforward, but manageable. However the cat sensor errors are now cropping up and I have done all recommended procedures to clear. I wish there was a way to remotely reset the scale. I wish I could remotely instruct the robot to lower the sand levels, which is a possible cause of the errors. App should be able to have more remote functionality (scale reset, for example).

Litter Hopper

So far, so good. I've only had the Litter Hopper a little over a week but it's working well. It was nice to be able to go away for the weekend and not have to get someone to come refill the globe.

LR4 was already a game changer for having 3 cats. The addition of the litter hopper has made things even easier. I love seeing the dispense notices!

Easy to install, and working perfectly. — has dispensed new litter to the LR4 three times so far in the last two days.
Great to know that the litter level will stay topped off, meaning good clumping and less mess on the liner. I plan to let it run low for the first time out, so I know how long one hopper-full will last (so I can tell my kitty sitter for when we're away), but after that will just top off the hopper once a week when I empty the waste drawer.
But — While the app is working great on my iPad, showing me the record of when the Litter Hopper dispensed litter, that function is not working on my iPhone, where I just get the introductory "How it Works" screen instead of the status report. I'm sure that will fix itself eventually.
