Quasi-Feral Cat had 6 kittens. Now I Do

I started feeding the quasi-feral young cat living under my house, and before I could catch her to be fix, she had 6 kittens. Long story short, I have 7 unadoptable, indoor/outdoor cats. As I attempt to domesticate the 6 kittens, and work full-time, I couldn't keep up with the litter boxes. Frankly, I had to find a better solution if I was going to be able to keep this family together.
I recently discovered and bought 2 Litter Robot 4s and 2 Litter Hoppers. After a few weeks in use, I can confirm I'm a devotee. This must be what it was like when "non-wringing" washing machines came out. Litter Robot 4 with Litter Hopper is a revolution in litter boxes, period.
Litter Robot 4 with Litter Hopper is a little pricey, but I also think of it as an investment to protect me and my family's health from the pathogens in litter boxes.

Best addition to an already amazing litterbox

The litter robot was game changing, and somehow the litter hopper is just another game changer too! Super convenient, gets rid of the annoyance of filling litter in the right way, and makes things even more hands off. Now all we need to remember is emptying the trash bin.

The litter hopper was an awesome investment for making the tasks I have to do a lot easier and less frequent. Filling the hopper is much easier for me VS trying to fill through the front. It was an easy install and easy to maintain. I love it!

Want to love it…but don’t

I really like the idea of the hopper and it functions as advertised which is great. But, it only tops up the globe when the litter level gets critically low, then only adds a bit of litter. Instead of always keeping the litter filled to the max line, it keeps the litter fractionally above the bare minimum. The surface area of litter is not enough to keep the cats from peeing outside the litter line so there’s always bits of dried pee globs stuck to the lining. I still have to add litter by hand to keep it operating optimally and only rely on the hopper as a back up. If it kept the litter filled up as I assumed it would, I’d be overjoyed with this accessory.

Nice idea but needs improvement

The bonnet is still to flimsy and this makes opening and closing it very hard. The latches are hard to get to release. It is inconvenient to have to take the hopper off to open the bonnet. I have had to open the bonnet several times to clear litter that has gone astray and jams the tub. It only takes one small piece of litter to cause such a problem. It would be nice to know more about the operation of the hopper. Like; is it hooked up? Is it jammed? How full does it think the tub is? The ability to change how full the tub is.
I do think that there is promise in this system saving time, just not now.

Cannot get the litterhopper to work

Was super excited about this addition but cannot figure out how to get it working. Even when following the video instructions exactly. Have tried starting over and over and still can’t get it to work. Would probably rate a 5 if it would work. :(
