Frigidaire 8,000 BTU Inverter Quiet Temp

After doing a thorough research on many window ACS, my pick was the 8,000 BTU Inverter Quiet temp AC from Frigidaire, mostly because of its efficiency and quietness. The only retailer offering it in Canada was Best Buy.ca with the merchant KOBE Industries. The merchant was wonderful, quick, responsive and very efficient.
I had to remove the windows and install a plexiglass on top of the AC as the windows were too narrow for the AC. This is a good trick for all people with narrow windows who believe they can only buy a vertical AC. (I was one of them)
THis is my first window AC so it is hard for me to judge the noise level but I find it quiet and very acceptable (I am super sensitive to noise). No problem to sleep with it at high level - AT low level, you can barely hear it. I haven’t tried it during a heat wave yet but I am sure it will be ok. My room is 250 square feet. I live on the second floor of a building and was worried that squirrels, pigeons might dirty the AC so I bought some Coroplast (white plastic board) at Rona Depot and taped it at an angle on my widow (covering the AC at an angle so hot air can still escape). In case you are worried about the weight. It is about 56 lbs and I was able to carry it one step at a time for one flight of stairs (I am not strong). It is better to be 2 people to carry it but it is still possible to push and carry it on small distances. This is important to know if you plan to store it inside during the winter. All in all, I am happy with the noise level, the look, the weight and the plexiglass. For the plexiglass, you measure the surface you need after removing the windows, order it from a hardware store and tape the sides with white duck tape.

It is the perfect solution for an apartment where it is difficult to instal central AC. I might still install central AC in the future and will keep the Frigidaire window AC because central AC does not always penetrate all the rooms especially if you close them at night.
Many people in the reviews complained about the app. I tried a few times and it worked. What you have to do is push on the wifi button on the AC then look at a strange (long) number in your settings/wifi on your phone and click on it. Then return immediately to the Frigidaire app that you downloaded and your AC will synchronize to your phone. I find that the trick is to return immediately from the settings/wifi to the app. If you don’t, it does not synchronize. It says so in the easy-to-follow instructions but it is easy to miss and get frustrated. Now that the app works, it is super easy to use. I can’t remember if it remembers or not my last setting but it doesn’t matter as I keep changing the temperature and keep the AC ON at all times.
For the price, yes it is an expensive item but my friend just bought a portable AC that is super noisy and paid close to 600$. So it is up to you to decide if noise and quality is a priority.

If your windows are too narrow, you can remove the windows, put the AC and fill the rest with a plexiglass sheet, tapping it along the sides with white duck tape. The plexiglass is exactly like see-thru glass. A friend did it for me and I can’t believe what a great idea and how easy it is. I thought I was obliged to order a vertical AC because of my narrow window opening. You can order the plexiglass from any hardware store. To protect the AC from bird droppings, I taped a coroplast sheet at an angle (don’t cover the ac) on the window,

The noise - or lack of noise - is great. It is super quiet at low level and more noisy at high level but it is very acceptable (I am very sensitive to noise). It is my first window AC. Had a central AC before and it is comparable noise-wise. I actually prefer it to central AC as the cold air with central AC does not always go inside bedrooms if it is located in living room and if you close your bedroom..
Esthetic-wise, it looks very good.
ALl in all, I am very happy with my purchase. One last point is that I could only get this AC from Best Buy Canada thru the merchant Kobes industries. The merchant was very responsive, efficient and easy to deal with. I would give him a 5 stars if I could rate him.
