Had to replace my original NVR because it crashed at a little over a year and a half old, just outside warranty. I like the system but really hope this unit lasts longer

This is my 4th Night Owl system. Still figuring it out. Most of the settings are done from my smart phone which im not sure I like, maybe just because I was use to doing it all on they system in the past models. Picture is crystal clear compared to my last system and I like have sound back.

Video export sucks!

Overall the system is nice excellent images but the app messes up a lot. The real problem is when you go to export video you can only export things that are labeled as an event with the new Bluetooth DVRs. The older systems you were able to export video from any time on the timeline. Night Owl needs to change this. If I would have known this I would have never bought this system.

Setup via Bluetooth was amazingly easy. Also connected it to a TV screen later just for ease in reviewing all the camera recordings. Hookup to cameras easy, hookup to NVR easy, although I did two cameras one day, and the the other cameras later during the week. I found I had to reset the NVR occasionally during the process for the Android App to hook up. No problem, all cameras installed, all working and recording and I get alerts on my app. I can bring up the app while traveling and I can view all the cameras live and the recordings. The one problem is the PC Windows CMS program worked the first day and hasn't since, so I hooked up to a tv via HDMI. I called chatted with customer service about the CMS and they said engineering was working on it. We will see.

The system itself is great, however my only complaint is that i ran all my cables to a patch panel in my closet where all my network gear is at. After punching all of the cables down into the patch panel i found out that the other end was not pinned out according to industry standard. all of the RJ-45 heads were reversed and i had to redo all of the cables. I used the industry standard of T568-B. Most people would have never found this issue because they would just plug the cable end directly into the NVR.

I had for about a week. Poe system, hard wires and instructions straight forward. Setting all the functions for the cameras has not been easy. (not a tech guy) All the instructions and videos were for the wiring, which was the easy part. No instructions or videos for all the camera settings. Web support not help again because it was all about initial set up. Did chat support and Ana F was very helpful .Did not provide phone number for tech support with set up guide, had to look it up. Still working on a few issues nut it's up and running.
