This Panasonic NN-SD4QS is the Microwave oven i purchased to replace what was the best Microwave oven i ever owned... the Panasonic NN-SV79MS, a 1200 Watt (Magnetron Power) behemoth and a workhorse which died in this month of April 2026, having served me well since August of 2023. The Panasonic NN-SV79MS microwave oven is 1.4 cu. ft and I will really miss it. My new microwave oven here is the 0.9 cu.ft 1000 Watt (Magnetron Power) Panasonic NN-SD47QS... the most silent Microwave oven I have ever used. The Panasonic NN-SD47QS is a smaller version of the NN-SV79MS with similar features, interface, but more quieter and smaller in size. The Panasonic NN-SD47QS which I have here does not have internet connectivity and does not work with Alexa. It is a microwave 'proper' in that it has no grill, air fryer or convection oven feature(s). The Panasonic NN-SD47QS comes with a child lock feature where you have to press a "open door" button to access your food after you done using the microwave oven. The child lock feature can be disabled and it does show how to disable the child lock feature in the manual. I hope this microwave serves for a long time. I have yet to test the 'Oatmeal Program' on this new microwave and see if it compares to the marvelous Oatmeal Program that is on the Panasonic NN-SV79MS - the best Oatmeal Autocook Program I have ever seen and used on a microwave oven. The operational quietness of the Panasonic NN-SD47QS microwave oven is unbelievable. You can barely hear it and in a room with ambient noise, you won't notice that the microwave is running. It is a tiny microwave and I do not mind this. I will keep it for its power and silent operation. The Panasonic NN-SD47QS has an inverter and its features are similar to the Panasonic NN-SV79MS it is replacing sans the Wifi feature. What I loved and miss of the NN-SV79MS is the Wifi Alexa connectivity. The Panasonic NN-SV79MS has network connectivity and automatically set the clock every time there was a power blackout and another nice feature which is lacking on the NN-SD47QS which the NN-SV79MS has is the ability to go into sleep mode where the little display powers itself off when the microwave is not in use. This new NN-SD47QS unfortunately lacks that feature and I am keeping it unplugged when not in use because these type of displays do burn out quickly the longer they remain powered on. So if you are looking for a new Microwave oven and are used to having microwaves which are 1.4 cu ft and above, get the Panasonic NN-SV79MS. You will really love that machine. The Panasonic NN-SV79MS does not have extra buttons needing pushed so to have access to your food after using the microwave. It is an amazing Microwave. Best Buy still have them in stock. Mine died because I re-programmed its custom cook settings too much beyond design limits and fried my magnetron within three years of use otherwise, the Panasonic NN-SV79MS is a microwave which would last 8-12 years if used within its design limits. I pushed mine beyond its design limitations and the fact it lasted three years is testament to how reliable the Panasonic NN-SV79MS microwave oven is. BTW the Panasonic NN-SV79MS is a microwave 'proper' and by that I mean it has no grill or convection oven feature. If space is a priority, get the Panasonic NN-SD47QS. The Panasonic NN-SD47QS is the Panasonic NN-SV79MS in a smaller package. These microwaves are built for people who love to challenge themselves. These two microwaves, the Panasonic NN-SD47QS and Panasonic NN-SV79MS do not have number pads rather, you utilize a dial to set weight and time. Do not get any of these microwave ovens if challenges frustrate you. These two microwaves are built for people who appreciate everything they learn as they use these microwaves. Getting either microwave depends on you and your needs. Both are amazing wonderful microwaves with similar features. Panasonic once again... take this design language and maintain it. Actual buttons instead of membranes, keep the large displays, sleep the display when the microwave is not in use, keep the interface and microwave simple, reliable, functional, silent, and powerful because long term reliable convenience is what the customer is looking for. The WIFI feature should be a global feature especially for clock accuracy and automatic daylight time adjustments throughout the year. Finally Panasonic, whatever noise filter you are using in the Panasonic NN-SD47QS microwave oven should be installed in every microwave oven out there and especially, the Panasonic NN-ST65JB, a majestic microwave oven built for the ages but unfortunately not sold anywhere in the US. Power rating for the Panasonic NN-SD47QS is 1000 Watts. That is the magnetron power. The manual shows the total power rating (what the microwave is pulling out of the wall) being 1050 Watts, which is kind of strange. Voltage and cycle requirements are written in stone at 120 Volts, 60Hz.

I like that this microwave is easy to use. I also like that the function for reheating leftovers works really well and is a one-button function.

Hi there! Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying the ease of use and the convenient one-button reheat function. Here’s to many more perfectly warmed meals with your microwave!
I got this to replace my older model that had lasted me a good long time. Since they didn’t make that model I went to this one with similar specs. I love its size and quietness. What I don’t love is the button to open the door. It’s a little hard to press. I also dont like that you have to press “microwave” first , then turn the dial for the time and then hit start. I don’t want that extra step of hitting microwave. Ultimately, the main features and the quietness are my most important priorities , so I can overlook the rest.

I needed a small microwave with more power than my previous Breville. This was basically the same size but delivers an extra 100W of power. Actually, this delivers a LOT more power - maybe the old one was worn out. I defrosted 8oz of meat. when I set the "Turbo Defrost" for 8oz it wanted to run at50 or 60% power for 5 minutes. I am still learning this machine and decided to carefully defrost at 30% for 3 minutes. It was thawed all the way and thoroughly cooked on the bottom at the edges. I am still learning how get comfortable with the controls but I wouldn't go back. It has a child lock that required reading the manual to keep it from automatically setting itself. No kids but me. It is laso a good looking machine.
