sorry to say this coffee maker has several flaws. 1. spills out when pouring. 2. not really that hot after brewing. 3. the basket for grinds is too small for 10 cups, it overflows. 4. there is no mechanism to stop brewing if pot is not there. After trying to use for a few weeks, I’m getting rid of it!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The carafe for this machine is terrible. love thermal carafes for coffee. However, the pouring feature of this carafe is awful. When pouring from this carafe, coffee spills out regularly. Don’t pour it over important papers or clothing. Pour it over something you can wipe it up because more often than not, it's going to spill. This is especially true for the last little bit of coffee in the carafe. You have to turn the thing upside down to get all the coffee to pour out. This also causes a spill. The carafe is poorly designed. It is hard to imagine why such an impressive machine was put on the market with such a poorly designed carafe.
Most disappointing, when I contacted Cuisinart and shared my feedback, I was brushed aside. I was told that if I didn't like it, I could try returning it to the store where I bought it. How about listening to your customers and designing a better product? If I had it to do over again, I would choose a different brand. I will not buy another Cuisinart machine until they produce a better product.

Purchased Dec 31 and returned 2 weeks later: didn’t make or keep coffee hot, couldn’t adjust the grinding to our preference, carafe didn’t pour well. Instead bought Cuisinart DCC-3200 PerfectTemp 14 cup programmable Coffeemaker. We figured it was better to grind our own coffee and have a really good hot cup instead of expecting the maker to do it all!

It’s great some days. Other days it’s a mess. It is super convenient but the design has many flaws. Some days the pot has coffee grounds all over and inside. Some days the pot pours great and other days it spills everywhere. The water container holds much more water than the pot can handle so if you over pour it spills out while brewing and if you set it to do a few cups but the water is full it will use all of the water no matter what. I would have returned this but haven’t had the time to research another or pack it all back up. Ugh I would not recommend it.

The machine makes a good cup of coffee, however there are a number of drawbacks. After a short period of time the strength selector switch no longer appeared on the screen. Also pouring a cup of coffee is a real feat, the coffee pours all over the place and makes a giant mess, so if you enjoy a good cup of coffee and don’t mind making a tremendous mess and having the electronics fail, then you found yourself a great coffee maker.
