[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was pleasantly surprised by the size and capacity of the refrigerator. It is everything my family needs and the inside water dispenser will save me money.

Wonderful refrigerator but poor ice production
on August 26, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m happy with the refrigerator overall except for the ice maker. It just doesn’t produce enough ice. I thought being underneath in the freezer it would have been as good as my LG but it doesn’t produce enough ice for barely one person and doesn’t seem to catch up.

Wonderful fridge for our family! Would buy again!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fridge cools exceptionally well, has massive space for everything, is attractive visually, and makes great ice. We love it! Very grateful we selected this model after a lot of research. The only thing is that when closing the door, the user needs to make sure both doors close fully which is easy to do. We love it and highly recommend it!

Awful Doors
on August 21, 2026

Awful refrigerator. I inherited this refrigerator when I bought the home, the doors won't shut correctly and there's no way to adjust them. I looked up online and it says Justin with a hex headed screw on the right side door and it's not there. I can't count the number of times the doors have been left partly open because they didn't shut correctly. The manuals no help the website's no help. I hate this refrigerator

oncerns with your Refrigerator. Please see the following for some troubleshooting tips:
Doors Not Aligned - Refrigerator Possible Solutions
Importance of Proper Leveling and Alignment
A refrigerator that is not level or has improperly aligned doors may lead to:
Doors being unable to close or seal properly
Frost build-up
Temperature fluctuation
Incorrect contact with the door switch
1. Level the Refrigerator
Before adjusting the doors, the refrigerator must be properly leveled (side-to-side and front-to-back) for overall proper operation.
Refer to your Owner's Manual or Installation Instructions for specific leveling information.
Use a level to ensure the refrigerator is flat.
Check that the floor underneath is also level; shims may be needed if the floor is uneven.
2. Check Food Storage in Doors
The doors are designed to be slightly uneven when empty to account for the weight of food. Adding food to the doors can help them align properly.
3. Adjust the Doors
Once the refrigerator is level, the doors can be adjusted. Instructions for adjusting the doors are found in your Owner's Manual or Installation Instructions.

Okay, not great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fridge is very roomy and well designed but it has some serious drawbacks. First, the water maker has an awful chemical smell that makes the first cup or two of water undrinkable. I pulled about 5 gallons through the system thinking it would clear out but it didn't. Then I decided to give it a few weeks. The smell did improve a little, but still didn't go away. I pulled out the filter thinking maybe that was the problem. I then ran a few more gallons through the system. The smell and taste improved a little again, but still didn't go away. From that point on, I just let the water bypass the filter since we have home filtration anyway. Over the course of 2-3 months we have finally reached the point where there's just a little bit of an off-scent in the first cup of water of the day. We're still hoping it goes away entirely, but honestly, this is unacceptable. Oh, and it also takes all night to fill the ice maker about 1/3 full. It NEVER fills up. Contacting support through the website is extremely cumbersome and I gave up after a couple of attempts. If the scent continues to improve I might change the review to 3 stars or 4, but after dealing with this I just can't call it a 5 star appliance.
The pros? Like I said, it's well designed and roomy. It cools efficiently and if you're not careful can actually give your veggies frost damage. The vegetable drawer really is for the vegetables with this one. Would I recommend? Not really, unless it's an amazing price and you have the patience to tolerate situations like this.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us! We're genuinely sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with the water in your Whirlpool® Refrigerator having a chemical odor. We're committed to providing the best support, and we'd love to discuss your experience further and see how we can help.
Water has Odor or Off Taste - Possible Solutions
How is the water quality?
The quality of the water feeding your ice maker can significantly influence the taste of the ice or water dispensed. Any impurities or dissolved substances present in the source water can be incorporated into the ice, potentially impacting its flavor. Whirlpool recommends using everydrop® water filters to help remove contaminants, including lead, chlorine, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals. Learn more about everydrop® and its filtration technology.
It is strongly recommended to avoid connecting your ice maker to a softened water source. The chemicals used in water softeners, particularly salt, can potentially damage internal components of the ice maker, potentially resulting in poor-quality ice. Also, the added salt can impart a noticeable salty or chemical taste to the ice. If using a softened water supply is unavoidable, ensure that your water softener is functioning correctly and is consistently well-maintained to minimize the risk of damage.

New Plumbing or Water Supply Line Installed?
Depending on the household water supply properties and the type of supply line used, water properties may cause different types of supply lines to react in different ways, which can result in bad odor or taste in the refrigeration water and ice systems. New plumbing connections, such as PVC pipes and fittings, can cause discolored or off-flavored ice and water. Discard the first few batches of ice and flush additional water through the dispenser.
Whirlpool recommends using either a copper water supply line or Water Installation Kit (Part 8003RP or 8212547RP), which can be Purchase Genuine Parts. Also, verify the unit has been connected to the cold water line. Installing the refrigerator to hot water could cause discoloration in the ice cubes and produce odd-flavored water. Refer to your Installation Instructions or Owner's Manual for specific recommendations for your model.
Does the Refrigerator Need to be Cleaned?
Improperly stored, rotten, and potent-smelling foods (such as fish or coffee) can leach into the ice and water, causing bad tastes and smells. Air circulates between both sections, so any odors formed in one section will transfer to another. Review Cleaning the Interior of the Refrigerator for odor-reducing tips.
Check for properly wrapped food.
Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help avoid odor transfer from stored food.
If the ice cubes have an odd taste or odor, throw them away. Allow 24 hours for the ice maker to produce more ice.
Does the water filter need to be replaced?
It is recommended that the Whirlpool water filter be replaced every 6 months, when the indicator light comes on, or as needed. Replacing your water filter regularly helps ensure a continuous supply of cleaner, fresher-tasting drinking water. Depending on your usage and water quality, it may need to be changed more frequently. A clogged or improperly installed water filter can reduce water flow to the ice maker and dispenser, potentially causing low ice production and slower water flow. Whirlpool recommends using everydrop® water filters. Find the right replacement filter for your refrigerator, and make the simple switch for clean water year-round.
