*WORKHORSE* of a food processor!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Admittedly, I didn't know what I was getting into when I got this product. This is not your run-of-the-mill food processor - it's a commercial grade piece of equipment that's capable of both high levels of consistency and high-levels of use over an extended periods of time. And, as a bonus, it's a gorgeous piece of machinery that Breville is known for. The motor on the machine seems like it weighs 10 pounds, so I'm sure it can handle whatever food processor needs you might have. I'm opening a catering business and feel privileged to have such a powerful machine.
I included the picture of the blade/attachment container because that aspect doesn't get talked about enough. That container isn't meant to just be a way to ship those items - it's a permanent storage container that is thoughtfully designed and quite durable in it's own right. It's a very considerate bonus by Breville.
Lastly, and suprisingly to me, most of the parts are dishwasher safe. Importantly, the blades are dishwasher safe. If you've never reached into a sink of hot soapy water and not known there were food processor blades, trust me - it's an experience you want to avoid.
One more thing that I just remembered, there is a 'small bowl' attachment that can go in the food processor. I didn't really understand its purpose at first - but with such a large food processor, the small bowl attachment enables you to process smaller quantities of food without having bits and pieces of food lost in the nooks of the food processor's largest bowl. It's a very smart idea.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this as a gift so gave it a try. We were not sure if we were going to keep it as we already have a good food processor. After using it, I have to say that this one is staying and the previous one is going away. We had Breville Juicer and already love it, and just like that juicer this is the best food processor I have ever used, and we love to cook so have worked with many. Pros: Powerful but quiet motor. Comes with many attachments and a very nice storage box for all the attachments which is a big plus. Chops really fast and with great precision. Cons: Can't really think of any for now. I have been using it for a week now and absolutely love it. We highly recommend for anyone who love to cook.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Breville Sous Chef 16 is a beast of a machine. It is Purpose built for jobs large and Small. The selection of blades and accessories is staggering and the included case organizes them very well. Over the past week I have put the machine through its paces with a variety of jobs. The unit has handled everything I have thrown at it with ease. The adjustable slicer makes awesome pickles, and the kids love the apples and pineapple chips. The cheese grater blade makes quick work of even the largest and toughest blocks. It will pay for itself just in the savings over bagged cheese. The french fry blade worked flawlessly as well, though I admit I wish there was a way to adjust it for different shapes and sizes. The fact that everything save the motor can be popped right into the dish washer is incredibly convenient. I would recommend this unit to anyone with medium to large processing jobs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the food processor you want if you do a lot of cooking & desire to have a top of the line machine. It looks lovely in my counter top & works like a charm! In my opinion I t’s the cadillac of food processors! I think there is a bit of a learning curve, if you’ve used smaller units, but fairly simple. It is heavy duty, weighing about 27 pounds. Since it is heavy, it’s best to leave it on your counter for easy access. The 16 cup container makes it easy to use large quantities, and it also has a smaller 2.5 container that fits inside the 16 cup bowl. It runs smooth, fast & fairly quiet. I am very pleased with this item. It is on the expensive side, but with all of the capabilities it offers I feel that it’s worth it.

Nicest food processor I’ve had in 40 years. I bought it to replace a (not very old) other brand that struggled to handle a full bowl of food and was made of thin plastic that broke the first few times I used it. Plus it did not process that well, and I was tired of cutting my fingers with a knife during long cutting sessions while canning (I have a big garden) because my food processor was too wimpy to get the job done. I was discouraged thinking that small appliances are just getting cheaper and flimsier even when you buy a decent brand.
The Breville shipped promptly in a plain outer box, thank you. Inside the processor was packed extremely well. This appliance is quite large! The accessories box is tucked in a cabinet while the processor itself warrants a spot on the counter. I am fairly minimalist about my kitchen counters, but I did not want to hide it in a cabinet like the previous processor, discouraging me from using it. The Damson Blue is quite handsome, I’m so tired of everything silver and gray. The plastic bowl is nice and thick and the rubber seal on the lid feels smooth. The various size food pushers snap easily in the lid (unlike my old processor, from which the pushers fell out on the floor and broke when you open it and turn it over to keep the mess off the counter).
Its first job was to puree a bowl of raw tomatoes. My old processor struggled with basic tasks like this, leaving a lot of very large chunks that had to be reprocessed or cut by hand. The Breville polished off the tomatoes in six seconds, with a pleasing low rumbly sound. I didn’t have to prep them too finely either! The pulse feature is very important—if you want coarse chop, just a couple of very quick pulses! And its controls are easy to use. The bright red measure markings on the bowl are easy to see and I love the pour spout.
To start the clean up, I put a little warm water and a drop of soap in the bowl, ran it a few seconds, took the bowl off and shook it over the sink, opened it and poured the soapy water over the lid and pushers, and rinsed. Something oiler would probably take a little more hot water and sink washing. I’m not putting it in the dishwasher, your choice but I think the dishwasher is pretty hard on plastics over time.
I continued to use the processor for a couple of days of heavy kitchen duty. I normally like the simplicity of a knife but since I’m cooking three meals a day at home, I feel like I’m in the kitchen all day. Later I used it for coarsely chopping onions and tomatoes. The chop was fairly uniform, no big chunks to fish out. It did a decent job of pureeing peppers with the skin on (would have been better to cook them a little) and chopping onions and garlic. The small bowl also worked beautifully. We haven’t used the shredding and slicing disks yet — but we’re looking forward to some hash browns and I’m very impressed with the range of the variable slicer. I think I can get a small eggplant in the chute and will try thick slices for moussaka tonight. This machine is earning its spot on the counter!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this machine. This does everything but clean up after itself. It's the quietest food processor I've ever owned. Precise - I love how nicely my veggies come out when slicing or dicing. Literally perfect and saves me boatloads of time. Tons of accessories. So many I haven't used them all yet (peeler, julienne, and fry cutter). Did I tell you how perfectly it dices veggies? Even tomatoes! Sturdy - this machine is well built and anticipating it will last a heck of a long time! We get excited every single time we use this machine. Iam a very pleased woman an do recommend this product it is a priceless addition to any kitchen.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One week with this thing and man what do I cook next. From fruits to vegetables, theres no limits to the things you can do with mean machine. I made fresh puree and the process was easy and seamless. Not to mention it knocks cooking time down with preparation. You dont have to take time peeling and cutting up anything anymore and the cleaning process is fast as well. I am beyond pleased with this new piece of heaven. Lord knows what recipe Im going to try next. Highly recommended to everyone that knows their way around the kitchen

If you have the money to keep buying replacement bowls and lids then this is your machine

About every two years, I must buy a new large bowl and lid (typically at separate times). The bowl tends to crack where the gear and spindle connect; the lid tends to melt where the spindle meets the center stabilizer. I cook for a total of three people but use the machine about every other day to predominately slice and shred salads or make mayo or dressing in the small bowl (note that the liquid from the small bowl will splash into the big bowl and you will have two bowls and a lid to clean.). Occasionally, I'll make peanut butter or pizza dough, but I never let the machine run for over 3 minutes; peanut butter only takes 2.5 minutes and is hands-off if you put in 4 cups of nuts in the bowl, and pizza dough takes about 45 to 60 seconds for two balls.
