Never had a pizza oven before, we’ve always made our pizzas on a stone in the oven. It takes some getting used to to, getting the temperature hot enough, remembering to turn the Izzy often, flouring the stone & peel enough so it doesn’t stick, etc. we’re still getting the hang of it but people tell us it’s takes a few failed pizzas to get the perfect pizza.
First of all the build quality is absolutely fantastic. Every aspect is well made. I had the oven up to 850 degrees and the table beneath it was still cool to the touch.
Takes about 45 minutes to get it hot enough, and though I'm still working on perfecting pizzas I can tell you it puts a beautiful steak house sear on my steaks. JUst make sure you put the cast iron in when you start heating the oven.
The oven was easy to assemble and appears of good quality. We could not, however, get the oven over 630 degrees F, using a combination of lump wood charcoal and kiln dried oak. Tried for over 1 1/2 hours.
Also, tried to make a Neapolitan pizza dough using the calculator on Ooni website. Measured ingredients with scale. Dough over proofed
Would totally recommend this oven I have only used this once simple to build simple to use. Hardest part was making Poolish pizza dough but fun! Had to wait 30min to heat up (using Wood) but cooked Pizza in 60 seconds 5stars
In general it is great, I wonder if it would perform better though with more insulation, but this would likely increase weight, very good though, but have to allow time to get back up to temp after a couple of pizzas
Absolutely fantastic! I love pizza, I was searching for a clay oven but came across this little beaut. What’s not to like about fire and pizza? I am a red blooded male after all :). Highly recommended :)
