Great EXCEPT Door Lock Feature

Microwave works well except I HATE the automatic door lock. When the microwave time stops the door should just unlock. Having to manually press Cancel/ Door Unlock is driving me crazy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Convection oven won’t heat up to desired level.

Tried cooking a banana bread at 350 degrees…came out soggy. Checked oven temperature with a standalone thermometer and it never got to 350.
There’s a button labeled 425 degrees; I called support said oven would not go above 375. Then why is there a button labeled 425.
I manually set the oven to 425 degree and used a standalone thermometer to test interior temp of oven. Never got above 350.
Returned to store. Useless appliance. Also, buttons felt cheap.

Make sure wheels are not upside down, seriously.

Love the microwave, just make sure the turntable wheels under the turntable plate are not upside down. If you hear squealing when in use, they are upside down. We found this out just today.

Disappointing

I bought this microwave to replace a comparable GE model because it was one of very few options that fit the recessed space in my cabinet. Too bad it wasn’t identical. The controls are so dim that I need a flashlight to read them, and the door latch requires a lot more force than the latch on my previous machine. Also, I’m still trying to figure out why this one costs so much more than other microwaves. Exactly what extra features did I pay for? If any …

We would like to provide clarity on the door latch of your microwave and some information on the pricing of our products. It is normal to notice the door of your new microwave is harder to close than your previous model. This is due to a firmer spring in the door latch. You can lift up on the latch to feel the tension from the spring. This is normal.
Pricing is dependent on several factors like features, usability (cosmetic vs. functional), and distribution to name a few. This model features convection cooking, so you can bake and broil inside the microwave. It also features a warming mode, sensor cooking controls, and is WiFi capable - so you can manage your microwave from your smart phone.
As we continue to make improvements to our appliances, your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments along to our product team to review.

Regressed panel controls. Back to the 1980 Future
on January 1, 2026
Posted by: TonyManero
Often newer isn’t better, and this is an example that design regressed to worse than before. Specifically, my prior GE monogram has a rotary knob that allowed quick advance of time or any setting. The knob was removed and replaced by the 1980’s membrane panel that require typical 5 solid inputs. So to select 1:45 time, one has to find and solidly push “time” membrane, enter 1, 4, and 5. Under the prior control, one just push the knob and turn it (advance) to 1:45 in 1 quick spin. It’s an advance back to the 1980’s.

Unhappy and let down
on August 6, 2025

We moved in our new house a little over two years ago. Our microwave was the only option from our builder. It is a nice microwave and we've had no complaints until recently. I started with the display missing a bar and now some buttons not working. The warranty was only for 1 year! We have researched the cost of repairing just the display and it is a ridiculous amount. For replacing this unit there is no way to match the opening of the trim ring without doing a direct replacement. I have never had a microwave have these problems in such a short period of time.

We're sorry to hear about the control panel not responding. We'd like to help.
We recommend trying out an electronic reset. This can be done by unplugging the power cord for 2-3 minutes, then plugging it back in. If this doesn't help, then we suggest scheduling service with our Bodewell team. You can do so by calling 1-833-426-3393 or by visiting this link: https://www.bodewell.com/schedule-repair-service

New but not better
on August 8, 2025
Posted by: Jimandjanis
Had one GE made is 06 the display was larger (loved that) don’t like the feature of having to cancel to open it. Still trying to figure out how to heat for 45 seconds instead of pressing 1 for 1 minute or 2 for 2 minutes! The print is so small one can barely read it all and all I’m not impressed with it!!!!
Response from geappliances.comBy Adrian, GE_Appliances, August 14, 2025
We are sorry that this replacement microwave has not lived up to your expectations due to the display and the door opening process while in use. This microwave can only be used in increments of 30 seconds or 1 minute. Your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments along to our product team to review.
