Superb coffee, problems with the machine itself

First and foremost, this makes a superb cup of coffee. For that reason alone, I have chosen not to return it but I am giving it only 3 out of 5 stars (at best). I have significant issues with this machine and contacting the manufacturer did not resolve the biggest issue. What I like: +It's a beautiful machine. I found it relatively easy to setup and brew and I like the WiFi/app experience. +I like that I can brew small batches (mug sized) or a carafe size. +I like that I can customize almost everything about my daily brew from bean grind, ratio, and water temp. +Hands down, it is brewing the best drip coffee that I have had from a home brewer. Critiques/Complaints: -My first complaint is that the machine is too tall to store on my kitchen counter. I have had to make a separate space for it. -When selecting Mug vs Carafe, there is a slider bar that affects the flow of coffee into the mug. Other than a very small print on the main screen to remind the user to slide the bar, this machine doesn't have any sort of sensor or alert that you've forgotten to slide said bar. More than once, I've forgotten and my brew stayed in the basket, risking an overflow. For a higher end machine, GE should be doing better and have some sort of audible alert or safety mechanism to prevent brewing with it in the wrong position. -BY FAR, the most annoying issue is that the door holding the brew basket does not consistently close. I have adjusted, readjusted, seated and re-seated this thing and sometimes I have to either force it close or slam it. I absolutely cannot figure out why it does it sometimes and not others. I contacted the manufacturer about this. They simply sent me a replacement brew basket which did not resolve the issue. I suppose it's possible that I have a defective machine, but apparently the manufacturer things it's part-specific. VERY UNHAPPY with this issue and I probably should have returned it when I still had the window of opportunity.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bean hopper too small

I’ve only had it for one week but really like it a lot. Only comment is the bean hopper is too small IMO. You only get two pots of coffee max before having to refill. Suggestion would be to make a hopper accessory that sits in the space of the current hopper cover that has more capacity. Otherwise it makes a really good cup of coffee.

The coffeemaker produces a very good cup of coffee. Each serving can be tailored to individual preferences by setting coarseness of grind, boldness, brewing temperature, and size of cup. Unlike many burr grinders, it doesn't scatter ground coffee on the counter. There are a few issues, however, that lowered the rating from five to four stars. The clean grinder warning is always illuminated, despite repeated cleanings. Occasionally, the grinder hits an air pocket despite an ample supply of beans. When the brew basket swings open to clean the filter, some liquid often spills onto the counter. After cleaning the filter, closing the unit often requires a bit of fiddling around. On balance, it makes good coffee with a high degree of flexibility and is therefore recommended, despite the remaining opportunities for product improvement.

Just as faulty as its Predecessor

Great coffee is made, however just like its predecessor, the bean grinder is faulty and will not grind when its supposed to. the beans get stuck and will not fall into the grinder. It has to be done by hand which could possibly be a safety issue. Very disappointing.

No idea how this thing gets such good reviews. People must have received it for free. It is junk. Every time it makes coffee steam releases from every available space possibly making the counter and cabinets soaked from steam. The drawer that holds the filter/basket that you need to push in feels like it will break at any moment. Can't wait to return and buy something else.

This needs to be towards the front and the tab needs to be facing directly back when installed correctly. Brewing Basket Door won’t stay closed

I’ve had this coffee maker for a few weeks and overall was very happy with it. But now all of a sudden, the door won’t stay closed. It pops open at times when it’s grinding, and will also pop open while brewing. I have no idea what’s going wrong, as I am extremely careful to make sure the basket is placed properly and I also confirm that it clicks when it snaps shut. I’m at a loss to know how to resolve this enoying problem. The coffee will be brewing, and for no reason the brewing basket door flies open.

We returned the coffee maker because the coffee was too strong, no matter what kind of coffee was used or what settings we tried. Bottom of the burr grinder is also difficult to clean. Love the sleek design and controls. A few changes and I'd buy it again. It would also be nice to have a 12-cup pot.

Cleaning this is very easy making for easy maintenance when needed. The durability will be tested daily while I enjoy making coffee again.
