A bold, guilt-free alternative to canned Code Red

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was super excited to try the SodaStream Mountain Dew Code Red Zero Drink Mix because I love the flavor of the original Code Red but have been looking for a low-calorie alternative. The packaging is sleek, and the twist-cap bottle makes it easy to measure out the syrup. I followed the mixing instructions and found that one capful was slightly too light for my taste—adding a little extra gave me the bold cherry flavor I was expecting.
The flavor accuracy is surprisingly close to the original canned version. It has that classic Code Red cherry punch with just enough sweetness. Since it’s a zero-sugar mix, I was concerned about an artificial aftertaste, but I found it quite minimal. It’s definitely a win for someone trying to cut back on sugar without sacrificing taste. The carbonation holds well, and the mix integrates smoothly into the sparkling water.

It’s red alright

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A super refreshing drink for me, it was a bit strong, so I dissolved it in water and it took on the desired flavor. I liked it a lot. I recommend it 100%. You're going to love it. Super practical and delicious.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you to Influenster and brand for sending me this product, complementary in exchange for my honest opinion. This product turned out exactly how it was supposed to, however, I didn’t realize it was zero sugar. I typically don’t purchase products that say zero sugar in this manner because I feel like they normally add an artificial sweetener or Stevia. Both of which I avoid. Anyhow, this will not be a product I purchase in the future, of course, due to all of the unsafe dyes this product contains. I’ve been educating myself over the years and trying to get better at avoiding these products and eliminating them as much as possible. Going forward, would I recommend the product? Sure, if you don’t really care about the ingredients.

Not perfect but pretty good substitute

I am a huge fan of store bought code red and jumped on the soda stream when I found out they have the zero sugar version since the real thing was discontinued long ago.
All in all I've bought quite a large amount of the zero sugar version after trying both. I found the zero sugar version tastes better than the sugar version in all honesty. The taste isn't quite exactly right on but extremely close and for artificial sweetener the after taste was better in my experience. I've tried multiple times to adjusting the amount of syrup and can't match the taste but the small batch and 1L come out good. It does taste much better highly carbonated and cold than not. I still grab a regular code red from the store from time to time as the flavor just pops a bit more but have been able to find my fix with this substitute. Although I would say I believe the caffeine content is pretty potent because if I have any from the soda stream version before bed I seem to have more difficulty sleeping not so much with the store version.
TLDR: Great substitute, not perfect. Best highly carbonated and cold with ice. Avoid before bed high caffeine. Highly recommend!
