No connection

Since I received the unit I have never bern able to get it to connect to garminto be able to download the maps. I do not use reach. Despite contacting garmin they have been unable to get me connected. Despite repeated searches while connected to me computer it has never bern found. The connection does charge unit but cannot be found to connect. Have owned garmin units for years and have never had this issue on any other unit.

A great unit too many features for crappy manual

I bought this a couple weeks ago and have used it every time I leave the house to try and learn how to use it. I have sent several questions to Garmin on how to use and always got a good answer. The instruction manual could use a MAJOR UPDATE and better instructions for each feature. It has so many features I don't know if I will ever learn them all but would like to try. They should add all the questions that they have received to a new manual with a much better index. As expensive as this unit is I would think that they would add useful features suggested by customers.

Excellent!! As hunter with the inreach capability hunting has got a lot less worry some, my only concern is how fast the battery dies, but above all that excellent piece of technology.

Great device - It's loaded

It has been a long time since I have used a Garmin GPS and the Montana 760i does not disappoint. I'm using for walking, hiking, gravel cycling, and offroading. Each of these has its own nuances, but once I figured out how to best use the capabilities of the GPS and it's built-in inReach satellite communications capabilities, I can't imagine a better device for my wife and I to use when we're off the grid - even if we're only off the grid for short periods of time.

Great piece of equipment, great features

Great device. I bought a month or so ago and I am so glad I did. I have able to map out waypoints for a fly fishing trip. Track back is awesome.

Awkward controls. Map tools are frustrating. Insufficient storage. Battery life is terrible. Any smartphone with offline maps is far superior.

Good device for backcountry/no cell coverage areas

Wish it came with a dedicated way to secure the device to my shoulder strap but I bought a belt clip/carabiner combo that seems to work. Messages work well. Tracking works. I’m backcountry a lot so trackback is my friend because the map generally is not the territory. Weather and sunrise/sunset get used more than I thought I would. I’d love integrated OnX compatibility but I can export gpx files so that’s good at least. I bring it everywhere now because I live in a low cell phone coverage area. Wish there was more functionality in being able to message non-Garmin registered users (or maybe I just haven’t found that feature yet). One month in and I’m happy I got it, well worth the $
