Great addition to navigation needs

Great Upgrade to the Montana Series

I was looking to upgrade my Montana 680T, which was running slow. I was hesitant to buy the 760i since it's quite a bit larger than the 680i. However, I'm glad I took the plunge. while larger, the 760i is still manageable, but most of all it's highly responsive and accurate. I also like the connectively it offers vs. older Montana models.
One thing I will note is that when looking at the listed accessories, I see the the Tempe has been discontinued. i hope Garmin plans to replace it, since it's useless to have devices with temperature capabilities that don't use an external sensor, otherwise you're not getting an accurate temperature.

Very complicated

I have lots of Garmin devices. Loads of options in this device and inReach options work really, really well. Screen is great and you're going to need the screen clarity to really sort it out. Be sure to set aside 8 to 10 hours to understand the consequences of trying to route a GPS way point using the multiple different settings that are buried in the menus that don't have links between them. Good luck! Garmin, it's time for a top down review or OnX is going to put you out of business.

New to garmin system

Get ready for a 23 day Grand Canyon trip!! Needed a way to communicate back and forth with people at home. Get weather updates . Mapping for side hiking and tracking. Pic taking of camps and rapids to see them on future trips. Have a first gen SPOT for outdoor adventures, problem is if use SOS , people receiving SOS just know there’s been an incident. Now I can rekey more info,, like “I’m Okay, helping other people” Will be using the Montana on a daily basis this winter for snowmobiling in backcountry! I’m a greenhorn garmin user, so things are not very intuitive at times, but being patience has payed off for learning curve!

I bought this new version because the battery was supposed to last much longer than the previous version. It doesn’t!
