I graduated to the s25 Plus from the s21 Plus. I appreciate that there was not wholesale reorganization of where everything was on the phone so it was very easy to pick up and just start using it based on the similarity to the s21 plus. The one thing that wasn't very handy at first was the quick settings menu. On the s21 you swiped left repeatedly to see the three pages of quick menu. On the s25 Plus, some quick menu items are immediately visible when you swipe down from the top right of the screen. There is a small slot shaped button that you tap and then the rest of the quick menu appears, going down vertically. Possibly because I was using the dark screen setting, that little slot button wasn't evident to me until I had gone back to the phone several times searching for the missing quick settings. After I discovered the slot button the quick settings were easy to use.
I notice the difference in processing speed between the two phone models. Operations like downloading apps are much quicker. Restarting the phone is much quicker. I think the increase in RAM from 8 gigs to 12 gigs is making a noticeable difference. The new phone is much brighter then the s21 Plus. It's so bright that I use dark screen setting and multiple apps to tone down the brightness most of the time. Battery doesn't seem much better than the s21 Plus and that's probably attributable to only a small increase in the battery capacity. I did think I would get a little better battery performance just because the s25 Plus is new. I did splurge and get the 500 plus gigs of memory. I like the peace of mind knowing that it will be quite a while before I would need to consider deleting things on my phone. The transfer process from the old phone to the new phone was remarkably fast and trouble free. I used a c to c cable to do the transfer. I started the transfer and was absolutely stunned that my 180-200 or so gigs of data transferred in maybe 15 minutes. All of my 160 apps (not counting system apps) transferred to the new phone. Many of the settings were transferred, but not all. Enough settings transferred that the phone was definitely immediately usable for most purposes. I was thrilled that for the very first time in the 10 years I've been using Samsung phones my visual voicemail was a very easy setup. However, I learned the hard way that some settings do not transfer and maybe the technology just isn't there yet. Email and preferences of Google versus Samsung options are examples. There are some things that were kind of a pain to find like going back to Google voice typing from the Samsung default. CAUTION: The s25 Plus was set to a default to record my phone calls and it makes an announcement at the beginning of the phone call that it is recording the call. Fortunately my first call on the phone was to someone close to me who understood and wasn't offended. There was a problem getting my antivirus set up on the new phone. I've used the program on all my devices since 2018 with no problems, but possibly it was an app problem and not a Samsung phone problem. I would just caution not to make the assumption that any setting are the same as it was on your old phone. I'm very basic on camera use so I don't really have any comment about that. The camera seems to work adequately. I also don't do any gaming so no comments there. I'm at the point that I'm going to start trying out some AI features. There are little tutorials on using the AI but I'm not very imaginative and could use some more specific ideas for how the AI would be useful to me. I definitely could see how I would use it in a work setting but I use the phone for leisure and personal organization mostly.
I had the samsung s23+ and was hoping for some difference but it doesnt seem like anything different from one to the next and this is a 2 year difference i was hoping for alot of changes but overall i like it but just expected more
I would recommend this to a friend!
