Much Better than Rover Controls

I used the original and now this updated BT module. The range us much better. It is so easy to control battery parameters and charge controller settings with this app. You have to enter Admin password to make changes & it wasn't easy to find the password. 135790123 and you can change the password to your choosing.

Easy to use

I added this to my solar battery backup system for my home. It is easy to use with the phone app. The range is only about 25 feet, not 80 feet as advertised. That's my only complaint, otherwise would have given it 5 stars.

Nice to see detail on the system output.

I like being able to see my system output in detail. It is very limited in connectivity though. If I try to connect more than one device or even one app on the same device, it can’t handle it. I have to force close the app it is communicating with to use another app or device with it ie. my wife can’t check it while I’m connected to it.

The readings are really good except the ones dealing with all the specs of the controller (went from 40 amp to a 60 amp) seem to be greyed out. I thought one could use this product via bluetooth and adjust the controller numbers. To recapture the monitor of the PV system (volts, amps, watts) I have to delete the previous session controller image and recapture it again. What does show on the phone display that is not greyed out is really a good contrast and a great image.

Average app & short range

The app has good information in it, but every time your screen times out, you have to close the app, restart it, and re-navigate to the battery status screen. It works, but is annoying.
The bluetooth range is short - less than 50 feet. I don't know what the official range is for Bluetooth, but my phone works from across the house when connecting to my car. This is nowhere close to that.

This is a nice addition to the Renogy solar system at a reasonable price. It allows monitoring or configuring of the charging system via your smartphone or tablet. It's easy to use, you just open it and specify the desired bluetooth device. My only real complaint is that you have to specify it each time you exit the app.
