Exceeded expectations

As luck would have it, the first day I have time to set this up is mostly cloudy.
Oh well
The sun came out for a bit. Solar panels were kicking out 457 watts, max charge power was 710 watts, max discharge was 589 watts (I tried out a grid tie inverter as well). The 116 additional charge power tells me I can run my grid tie all day and maintain 100% battery charge (even on mostly cloudy days). This increases my estimation of savings on electric bill to between 50% and 75%.
My only regret is that there was no option for a larger charge controller so I had room to expand without needing to replace the charge controller.
Any chance you have a reasonable upgrade program for the charge controllers?

It's early to give a great review but, I set the system up in about 2 hours on a small cabin. The directions could have been a little better but getting online once answered all my questions. It was around 4 pm when I finished the install and it immediately started charging my batteries. The Renogy monitoring app is an awesome tool. The first morning after install I was watching the app and around 8 am it started the recharge process. I think my batteries were at full charge by noon. My panels are facing SSW and are mounted flat on a 3:12 pitch roof. Probably not optimal but I wanted them on a surface that they had the least chance of getting damaged. I used it the 3 days I was there with no issues. I hope to use it several more times this fall and winter. I was able to run my lights until I went to sleep with no issues. Hopefully I can run a lot more after the cabin is completely wired. I'm using automotive batteries (not optimal I know), I would like to hear some suggestions on a better battery to use that doesn't break the bank.

I like it but a few suggestions. Please send the instructions. Most people want to hold the instructions while they are working on it, hassel to look up which one on computer. White lights are hard to see, red is better, same with indicator, hard to see read out, no imfo on temp connection thing, but its working great. Thanks

Great Solar Panel System for Motorhome Roof

Added the 400 Watt 12 Volt Renegy Premium Kit to the roof of my 2008 Winnebago View motorhome this weekend. The kit was pretty complete and was able to do the install on the roof using self-made modified aluminum brackets and VHB tape without screws penetrating the motorhome roof. Didn't like the brackets provided in the kit since they were too low and did not have enough surface area to ensure good, strong bracket-to-roof adhesion. The only equipment I added to the Renogy system was an on-off switch from the solar panels to the charge controller so that I could disconnect the solar panel power when working on the battery system. I also added an inverter with a 300 amp in-line fuse to the batteries to run most of the power in my motorhome. Great Renogy kit and quite simple to install, even though the instructions were lacking and, I think, could use more detail.

I don't usually write reviews, but I figured I would in this case: The main reason I purchased this kit is because you can actually call Renogy, and they actually have someone to answer the phone who is eager to answer questions and assist in tech advise. To me, that's huge!
Anyways, I installed this 3 years ago for my off-grid tiny beach house in Mexico. It has functioned perfectly and is holding up great. The only maintenance I've performed is just cleaning the panels. This system is small, but perfect for a low voltage setup (like tiny home or RV) - my home is all 12v, with a small inverter for light AC needs.
The kit was easy to install, and came with everything I needed. I fabricated a simple rack for the panels (see pic). For batteries, and purchased 4 "VMAX" 6V (225Ah) AGM Deep Cycle Batteries from Amazon (connected them in series and parallel - see pic). I couldn't be happier with this system - Thanks Renogy.

Great, the only suggestion I have for the Renogy team is.....to give more guidance to first time Buyers about layout and probable need for. Additional extension cables.

Installed wiring from the roof to the basement equipment bay this morning. This afternoon we mounted the charge controller in the same bay and then connected the wiring from the roof to the charger. Then ran wiring the charger to the batteries. So far, so good. I suggest downloading and reading the Z panel connector instructions before ordering so that you can order the well nuts recommended for mounting the solar panels to the roof while you wait for the panels.

This kit combined with a 200AH battery has enabled me to go off grid as long as I want! Awesome quality.
