Love the extra space

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I got my storage rack, I am very happy to have the extra storage room in my garage. As I opened the box, I could tell this would be a game changer for us. Now that I have it up, I'm looking to get a couple more. If you could come up with a way to add lights to it that would be great, as it tends to block my existing lights when items are stored on the rack.

Terrific Product, strong and reliable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product and began to install. I was immediately impressed with the quality and strength of the frame. This is designed to be overhead in a garage so it needs to be strong. Product went together well- suggest using a clamp which helps align some of the pieces as that is the biggest challenge. Also note it will take two strong adults to hold the product while it is being mounted to ceiling. Overall very happy with a quality made product

Amazing storage unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This storage rack really cleaned up my garage. I was able to remove three cheap wire shelves thanks to this unit. It is very heavy duty and has a good looking finish. Only warning, is make sure you have some help putting it up. The unit is heavy and I was able to do it by myself but was sore for 3 days. I highly recommend this product.

Solid ceiling rack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] General comments:
Assembly was not too difficult. It was a bit tedious getting some of the screws secured in tight areas with the included allen wrench, such as the threaded screw holes at the end of the racks where they are connected. I was hoping I could find a drill bit that would fit the screw head, but I didn't have one. I have another brand's 4' x 8' celing rack that I had already installed prior to this. By comparison, the Gladiator assembly and installation probably took a little longer for a few reasons. As I mentioned before, I couldn't find a a drill bit that fit the included screws. The other rack was easier to attach to the ceiling in smaller sections (half at a time), instead of assembling the full 8' long rack and then lifting it up. If I had the luxury of help, both installations would have been easier overall, but the Gladiator installation would have still been more difficult. I was able to get the racks attached by myself, using some ratcheting straps to hold it up.
Overall, I am happy with the final product. It is very solid and well-built and I'm confident it will serve its purpose well in my garage for many years.
Pros:
Well constructed, sturdy
The wire rack is set level with the horizontal rack support beams, allowing things to slide across easier from end to end of the rack.
The EZ connect feature is nice. My other ceiling rack is just bolted to the vertical supports. The EZ connect system makes it much easier to adjust the height as needed.
Cons:
When connecting two of the racks together, the instructions tell you to use four screws and nothing else. Only two of the four connecting holes are threaded, requiring you to use a rectangular nut on the other two connections. The instructions should indicate this more clearly.
There were not enough screws included in the package (part F1 - M8 1.25 x 15 socket-head cap screw):
8 for ceiling brackets (parallel mounting configuration)
28 for connecting the racks together (including rack connection brackets)
12 for connecting racks to the vertical supports
=48 screws, with only 42 included
I'm not saying the package was shipped with fewer screws than required, but rather it should require 6 more screws. I had to remove some of the screws connecting the racks to use them for the corner/center supports in later steps. This is obviously not ideal. I had to use some spare nuts and bolts that were lying around to keep things secure.
The M8 - 1.25 x 15 socket-head cap screws were a little shorter than I would have liked when joining the racks together with the threaded holes. However, given that there is the addition of the rack connection bracket close to this joint, it probably is secured sufficiently.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is very sturdy. Holds up nicely and was easy to install. Like most products I’ve gotten from this company, they do their job and then some. The manufacturing in it is better than others I’ve had in the past and like I said before easy to install. Saves space and keeps things off the floor

high-quality product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because I needed extra storage, going from a three-car garage to a two. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and sturdiness of this product. Very easy to assemble. The product design team did a great job with this. Tip: use the ceiling bracket as a template, instead of just measuring. It did take three of us to hoist it and connect it to the ceiling bracket, so have a couple helpers handy.

Very solid rack that will hold a lot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very nice addition to my garage storage. I had been putting some heavy Christmas boxes in my attic and putting them lower will require a lot less muscle and pain. It's rated at 500 pounds and I tested it by swinging from one rackt with no issue. I'd rate the hardware a 5 but the instructions and time it takes to install a 3. I have moderate DIY skills and wound up deciding to hire my neighbor and handyman to help me finish the project. I spent 2-3 hours unpacking, sorting, labeling parts, coming up with a plan and starting the install by myself, and about 1.5 hours when the two of us revised the plan and installed it successfully. It will be much quicker if your beams are unobstructed and you pay attention to some advice.
Let me offer some tips for the instruction writers and you.
* First, make sure you have good tools. I have a mediocre stud finder; make sure you have a good one if you have drywall. (Part of my garage is attic and part goes higher, to the bedroom floor above, and the beams in the install area went in the opposite direction as the attic, which changed my plans.) Also, it helps to have an impact driver (with a 3/8 or 1/4-inch adapter) instead of just a socket wrench or open-ended wrench unless you want a workout driving a dozen lag bolts 3 inches into solid wood. While a second person is not essential until you hang the racks, it helps to have a second ladder and a partner unless you want to be climbing up and down ladders a lot or you can store a lot of tools and parts on your ladder or toolbelt.

* Read the instructions carefully from beginning to end. Trying not to overwhelm my memory, I read just the first few and that was a mistake. Understand each step and how it might limit/affect your layout before you determine the layout and start drilling. For instance, I thought I could secure the rack even better and save some space by tying directly into the edge where the ceiling and side wall met, but you need at least an inch or two away from the wall to attach the vertical supports with the nut and socket-head screw. Because I had a light in the way to complicate the 48-inch measurement, we reversed a few steps to make sure the fit was right. This meant holding a pair of rack overhead with a shoulder press and head for several tiring minutes until several screws could be inserted and tightened. Don't try this unless you want an intense shoulder workout. I would suggest the initial instructions be enhanced with some tips and cautions on determining the layout. The instructions for both regular and optional configurations focus on drawings that should show the brackets and beams and should add more text to help you understand what works best. For instance, it should be obvious but it would help if it spelled out that if you want to use the "parallel layout" your studs should run perpendicular.
* The racks are connected together with screws. Bolts and nuts would be quicker and easier. Try standing the racks upright, knock off burrs and then thread down into the rack in steps 3 and 4.
* In steps 6 and 7, you're attaching the lower vertical supports to the racks themselves. As mentioned earlier, don't make my mistake of attaching the vertical supports together and then trying to put all the screws into the rack while you hold it overhead.
I hope this helps. You'll be happy when you're done!

Excellent Storage Option

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit was shipped directly to my house and arrived intact without any damage due to the thoughful design of the product´s packaging. The storage rack´s assembly instructions were clear and easy to follow. Having another person available to assist with the final portion of the assembly would be helpful. This unit is a great way of creating additional storage space in garages with high ceilings. The adjustable height feature of the unit provides flexibility for storage needs that change over time. The Gladiator Overhead Storage Rack is sturdy, well-designed and quality made. The overhead storage unit matches the Gladiator shelving unit that I purchased earlier this year.
