Low Profile above the range microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Low Profile microwave is wonderful. The Installation was easy to understand, fit great in our 30” above the range space. Our last whirlpool microwave lasted 34 years! The easy button open was a nice feature. Lists quick option heatings inside of door for easy access! Very quiet when running and nice tone to alert when food is done. Love the LED lighting inside and underneath to use as a nightlight. Heats food fast and the ventilation fan has a low and high speed run quiet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Microwave is awesome, keyboard is overkill.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying that all of our appliances are Whirlpool by choice. But the most aggravating thing about this microwave is the keyboard. First, non-haptic. The slight delay after hitting a button without feedback makes you hit it again, then have to start over. The menu, while feature rich, is almost too much for simple things like reheating. To choose Reheat/Manual mode takes button after button, arrows back and forth, and a warning mid-way to use a microwave safe dish. Should you just want to heat up a cup of coffee, you go directly to the amount of time from the stand-by (Home) mode. If not warm enough, you now have to hit “Menu” to add more time. When working at 100%, why not just return to the stand-by (Home) mode?
The other issue we went into knowingly when purchasing and is more of a suggestion. In our rather small kitchen, the right side of the stove is against the wall. There is not a lot of room between the front of the stove and the refrigerator. With the keyboard part of the door, you really need to back-up against the fridge to get the door fully open. A shorter door without the keyboard would help, an option to switch which side the door opens from would be ideal. Other than these things, still love Whirlpool.

Horrible microwave!!

DO NOT BUY THIS MICROWAVE!! This microwave is so bad I am considering junking it and buying something else First issue is the oversized door. They put the controls on the door so the door is extra wide. You have to step back as it opens to avoid being hit with door. The placement of the controls also means you will be turning in the fan and/or often when all you want to do is open the door. There seems to be a glitch in the control panel. It often turns off and gives an error message claiming it has lost power. After that all settings have to be reset. This is a regular complaint in reviews of this product.
I bought this microwave in January I had ordered their previous model and it was no longer available so was offered the new model Had I been able to see this model in person I would never had ordered it.
It should be recalled because of the regular failure of the control panel
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is without a doubt the worst microwave I have ever interacted with. Instead of immediately responding to button presses like any other microwave made in the last 30 years, this Whirlpool WMML5530RW “smart” microwave is laggy and extremely frustrating to use because after every button press there’s about a three second delay before the microwave actually starts cooking the food.
Have you ever used a “smart” TV that is really laggy and has a delay every time you press a button on the remote? That’s what it’s like when pressing buttons on this microwave. It may seem like just a little bit of inconvenience but it really gets on your nerves for the 20th time after trying to microwave food and you expect the microwave to instantly turn on but it actually waits three seconds before starting to cook the food. This is a classic example of an over- engineered product that is worse than older, less “smart” products. Even the sound it plays when it is done sounds like a low quality android smartphone speaker from 2008 that they put into the door of the microwave. For such an expensive product, this model is over-engineered and low quality. I highly recommend looking at other models and brands before purchasing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this way over priced version of a microwave because I needed black and slim, so choices were few. It heats stuff fine. So mission accomplished. The functional design is really poor in my opinion. The door swing is the full 30” width, much wider than a regular microwave….you feel like you need to duck out of the way when it opens. The touch-sensitive buttons are not sensitive enough when you want them to be, but when you grab the finger cavity under the door’s right side to pull it open, your thumb will surely trigger the fan or light button inadvertently. Finally, I find very little intuitive design, and there was absolutely nothing useful in the enclosed written material on how to use the features. If it was a regular priced microwave, I would be disappointed. At this device’s lofty price, it’s a tragedy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first unit I purchased had to be replaced within a couple of weeks because of a "faulty control board". Now with this replacement unit Every 3-4 weeks I get a prompt saying "power to your appliance has been lost..." it requires re-setting the date, time etc before using again. This has gone on for over 7 months. So no, I don't trust it will last long.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
