The Balrog are as a bit of a wonky build, I felt like some of the pieces would disconnect with a slight touch. The whip is a joke/ridculous. I also got a piece that makes the arm loose so he can’t hold it upright. I was excited to see a smaller LOTR set (since running out of space) but definitely overpriced. But obviously got it since I have the other LOTR sets.

Great Lego Book Nook

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the packaging is beautiful in the black elegant box. The structural design feels solid, and the bricks are the high-quality plastic you'd expect from LEGO. The overall LEGO experience is definitely great. The columns are designed with geometry and are very versatile. The color gradient is effective in creating the illusion of fire. The Balrog is very intimidating with its size compared to Gandalf. It is an improved design vs in the video game. I LOVE the flames in the background. They do have a distinct look, & its very nice.. It does not interfere with Balrog's wings when the nook closes. Love the set and I can't wait to see the next design. Thank you so much.

After putting together a wonderful Sherlock Holmes Book Nook, LOTR is a let down.. from Balrog to the overall design, it's a let down & unsure why this would be considered a book nook. It looks incomplete.
I was disappointed with the build of the Balrog - thought there could have been better detail throughout the build - especially on its back for an adult set. The reuse of the wings from another set was disappointing. I felt this was really overpriced for the value received.

The pictures of the set make it look okay, but it is much uglier in real life. The Balrog looks nothing like it did in the movie. It looks like a children's stuffed toy. Also, this thing is way overpriced. Would not recommend
Pros: -Is an excellent display piece both closed and opened with a nice color palette.
-The cheapest lord of the rings set since the return of the theme.
-Doubles as a playset for those interested.
-Actually plays into the notion that LOTR is literature.
Cons: -Tries to have it both ways by being a diorama with an action figure.
-Not ideal price per piece
-Sides aren’t accommodating to smaller or paperback books.
I would recommend this to a friend!
