The Best Gift I Ever Gave Myself!!!!

The Cuisinart Precision Master 5.5 Quart Stand Mixer is my first Stand Mixer. I began cooking and baking when I was 12 years old using a hand mixer and am now 75 years old. Oh my, what a wonderful machine I have purchased for myself. I love the ease of using this Cusinart. Easy to use, runs smoothly and quietly and so easy to clean. . .it's perfect in every way. I have also purchased the Pasta Extruder and the Cuisinart PRS-50 Pasta Roller & Cutter Attachment for this machine. What a marvelous, time saving and most enjoyable machine to have. I highly recommend this wonderful Cuisinart Precision Master 5.5 Quart Stand Mixer.

It was time to get a stand mixer

I've been expanding my baking horizons from chocolate chip cookies and muffins to pastry, pizza dough and breads. Bread recipes seemed to assume one had a stand mixer and a dough hook. I made do with a hand mixer with a couple of spiral attachments billed as dough hooks. It worked well enough but took extra effort and sometimes the bread came out too crumbly. So I bought the Cuisinart Stand Mixer. So far I've used it for muffins, bread, pizza dough and chocolate chip cookies. It has made baking easier and more efficient because I can multi-task. My cookies did not come out as well using the stand mixer instead of a blender - a short-cut that works surprisingly well - the dough was drier and less pliable. So, I'll research recipes that specify a stand mixer. My whole wheat multi-grain loaf came out perfectly. It is so much tastier than store bought bread, so I'll aim to always make my own bread. I don't know if that'll amortize the purchase price but I'll still be happy with my Cuisinart Stand Mixer and the goodies it helps me bake.
The bowl is capacious and easy to clean by hand. The mixer is powerful so it handles dough with ease. It is solidly built and stable. If you are researching stand mixers, put this at the top of your list.

Having owned for many years a mixer from its major competitor, I had some qualms about purchasing this unit-my concerns disappeared after using it- it is powerful, it is easy to operate, and the paddle is made from metal which solves the problem of the rubberized coating chipping off as occurred when I used the competitor’ s machine

I bought this for myself for Christmas. I have made some cakes and frosting, plus pancakes and meringue. The only problem I have with this product is that the mixing blades don't get close enough to the bowl to cream butter. I think the mixing tools could be just a little closer to the bowl. Wonder if there is an adjustment for that.

Cuisinart Mixer

I bought this mixer after reading great reviews. Unfortunately for me it did not do what I needed. I am doing a low carb diet and therefore using different types of ingredients vs. flour for dough. The dough blade didn't mix the ingredients, but just shoved it to the side of the bowl. I'm not sure if it would do the same thing with regular dough ingredients, but I don't think it would. Therefore, this mixer does not function the way I need it too in my type of cooking. I rated it average as I don't really know if that's how it would be regardless. The bowl is too deep in my opinion and the blades do not touch the bottom or sides when mixing, but again that could just be because of the ingredients I am using.

Pros and Cons

I was very excited about my new cusinart mixer. My old mixer finaly gave in after almost 20 years. I love my new mixer so far I've used it several times. I am happy with the paddle, dough hook and the whisk attachments they all worked well. The bottom of the bowl must be scaped down a couple of times since it doesn't reach that far. The only real disapointment I have is it is very heavy even just flipping the top up and down. I should have looked at a bowl raising feature instead.
