It Smells Bad!

The biggest issue with newer Bosch models is that even right out of the box, they can start smelling like putrid pond water or a straight-up sewer. This happens because Bosch changed their design and now uses a much weaker built-in check valve, relying heavily on how the drain hose is installed to stop backflow. If your hose is laid flat or low, dirty sink water leaks right back in, and nasty sewer gases pass straight into the dishwasher, cooking under the high heat during the dry cycle.
Another hidden issue: > Sometimes the top rack doesn’t seat or lock properly into the water connector on the back wall. When this happens, no water reaches the top spray arm. Your dishes don't get washed at all—they just cook in the moist heat from below, causing a horrible lake-water smell.
If you already bought one and have these issues, here is the fix:
Fix the hose: You must manually create both a P-trap and a High Loop with your drain hose under the sink (like the red line trick). Make a sharp "U-shape" near the wall to trap water, then pull the hose up as high as possible under the countertop and secure it with zip ties.
Check the top rack: Take the top rack out and make sure the sliding connector on the back wall moves freely. When you push the rack back in, ensure you feel it firmly "click" or seat into the back connector.
Clean it out: Run an empty cycle on the hottest setting with a dishwasher cleaner to eliminate the leftover smell.
