Very pleased!

Got this backpack on Kickstarter, was very happy and trustful of the whole process. Peak Design was a new manufacturer to me and I’m very glad I found them. I haven’t put this bag through all its paces but the quality of materials, versatility, and construction exceeded my expectations. We will see about the durability but their registration and warranty are very reassuring to me. Actually came back to buy some of the packing cubes and pouches and these have been similarly terrific
I would recommend this to a friend!

Exactly what I expected from a first edition bag

Excellent personal item on an airplane. Recently did some work travel and it really did everything that I needed it to. Compact, very secure, easy to carry, and plenty of room for staying organized. Fortunately for me, the weather was great and I didn’t get to test the water resistance of the bag.
Things that I hope to see cleaned up in a future version:
-The cord securing the front of the bag, when pulled tightly, gets stuck on something internally and it becomes difficult to open the front of the bag. I get it open by wiggling it around pretty aggressively, but that’s not ideal for a quick access area.
-Maybe add a small internal pocket in the main part of the bag for small items to be stored away from larger items. Something only large enough for basic EDC pocket items. Pens, chapstick, charger, cash, etc.
Overall, great bag. I’m very excited to test it on a much longer trip next month. Will update my review afterwards.

Three things I wish Peak Design would do different
on July 18, 2025

Luggage handle pass through, camera cube and side handle. Those are the three things I really wish was different in this backpack.
I really wish there’s a luggage handle pass through so I can put it on my suitcase when I walk around the airport. Using the string is just not enough to support the weight of a fully packed bag of camera gears. Here’s an idea: make a small pocket so that the hip belt can be stored and open up the back of the pocket so the luggage handle can pass through. Please make this improvement in V2.
I also want to have a side handle or two on this backpack. It’s not easy to pick up from the ground just by the straps themselves.
The 45L version back opens ever so slightly less than the large camera cube. I don’t see the purpose of this design. It makes the camera cube not able to be closed fully. It makes the process of opening and closing the camera cube so much harder.
There are a few other things I wish Peak Design had thought through. The chest straps are too thin. If you have to put two thin chest straps, why not put one wider one? Also, I really wish they add a top zip. But it hasn’t caused issues on my gears just yet and I’m carrying the rain fly everywhere just to be safe.
I love the backpack in its white color. I love that Peak Design finally made the straps work and it doesn’t hurt my shoulders. The new hip belt is also greatly improved from my 45L travel backpack. I’m a huge fan of Peak Design and I’m only giving a 1 star review to get your attention. This backpack is great for everyday outdoor photography. I just wish someone inside Peak Design will ask the old question: if it’s not broken, why fix it?

Fantastic backpack for everyday use!

Fantastic backpack for everyday use. I’m not a photographer but love all the little well-thought out features. This is replacing a well-loved North Face backpack.

Not a woodsman pack

If you are a digital nomad then likely a great product but for the outdoor enthusiasts not so great. Missing loops for a hatchet and fire steel for one. A pack for bushcraft is very different than these urban packs.

Huge disappointment!
on November 1, 2024

My new Outdoor Backpack with camera cube arrived today and what a disappointment.
It took me a full 15 minutes to work out how to open the thing and I still can't work out how to fit the camera cube inside. I searched the website in vain for a video but there's nothing up yet.
I just can't work out what it does! There are straps everywhere and pockets but no easy way to access anything. If I do manage to get the camera cube in it, there will be no room for anything else. Not even the smallest of the ultralight packing cubes that I bought with it.
I already have an everyday backpack and a travel backpack and I hoped that this retirement gift to myself would replace them both. No chance!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Another PD masterpiece

Just got this and the quality is stellar in typical PD fashion. It has ample pockets, the roll top is a great idea, and the back zip panel gives a straight shot to your gear. This pack is about to get put through its paces, and based on the materials used and solid feeling construction I have zero doubts it’ll hold up.

Great product but can not attach sternum straps
on November 14, 2024

I have received the backpack today and I am unable to attach my sternum straps because of missing loops on the left shoulder band. for the rest the 25L backpack seems to do what it promises. A guide on how to attach a sling would be nice.
