The Bag I have been waiting for

I have been on the hunt for the perfect bag for years, and while I love my other peak design products, this is finally the one I can use EVERYDAY. It lies as flat as I need it when not carrying everything, but also has the ability to carry everything I need for work when out of the house, and even a little extra for some fun.

Really like the bag. Looks very good, straps are the best on any bag I've used. Only issue is that the top opening is a little cumbersome, but there's always the back zip which works a lot easier.

Plethora of feature with the ability to pack a ton

I would put it at 4.5 star. Pros - This is an eye-catcher, great design, I get commented on often for the bag itself. - It's also extremely comforting, the shoulder straps are definitely made long distance. If there is weight, there are ways to distribute it using the hip belt or the hook that can distribute weight. - Can store a ton and has enough pockets for decent distribution. At max loads, it can be huge, but it does not become too bulky. - I love the attachment hooks. It give it so much more flexibility
Cons - The handle on the top is way too thin. Everywhere else seems to be made for comfort with thick straps except for the top handle that is way too thin that it starts to hurt when holding it from there with even a little amount of weight. - No easy camera access. I understand that this is generally design with another camera sling on hand. However, I wish there was at least one side zipper for me to easily access the camera
Overall, really like it, and use it for all short term trips.

Used this bag for rock-climbing and casual outdoors trips and it's been great so far. Durable and practical with all its features!
Definitely not meant for the serious outdoors-person but if you fall into that category you already know what you should be buying instead.

My Experience with the Peak Design Outdoor Backpac
on March 26, 2025

As a long-time fan of Peak Design, I own several of their bags and accessories. I recently purchased the Peak Design Outdoor Backpack 25L for my hiking trips and wanted to share my thoughts.
Exterior
The backpack looks fantastic, and the materials feel top-notch. The CordHook system for attaching gear externally is clever and adds versatility. The quick-access chest pockets are also very handy. The bag is very light and fits perfectly on the back.
However, I encountered some issues: • The main external zipper is stiff and often gets stuck. • The Ultra Cinch top access system is hard to use while walking. • The Center Flex Pocket lacks the small internal pocket found in the 45L version, which wasn’t clearly communicated during the Kickstarter campaign. • The external quick-attach straps don’t secure well to the CordHook system.
Interior
Inside, the design differs from other Peak Design bags: • There’s no lining, leaving visible stitching that isn’t very appealing. • No upper attachment points for hanging gear. • No internal pockets, making additional packing cubes necessary for organization. • The routing for the water bladder is awkward and makes it difficult to open the bag properly. • The attachment for the water bladder is ineffective; I had to improvise a solution to secure it.
On the plus side, the 3L hydration volume is very practical. However, the bag lacks internal structure and tends to deform when fully packed.
Conclusion
Initially, I considered returning the backpack, but Kickstarter’s return policy made that difficult. After adjusting how I pack and use it, I’ve found it to be a reliable companion on my hikes.
To truly embody Peak Design’s essence, adding internal pockets and structural elements would enhance its versatility for various activities, including travel.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perfect for the photographic adventurer...

Perfect for the photographic adventurer... or travel adventurer inside..
I bought the 45L the 25L along with the hip bags to match. Both my GF and I love them. Hard wearing, look cool and they don't look too heavy when laden with photo gear and you're at the boarding gate worried that your back pack won't make it on.
