i bought this a few weeks ago for an outdoor camping trip because i wanted something that could stand up to the elements and protect my carry items. out of the box it had plenty of customizable fit options with adjustable straps on both end with strap management built into the bags so i was able to get everything just right. happy to report on the trip that it withstood rain, cold, 20-25 miles of hiking, and a little bit of dancing as well all while packed to the brim. no malfunctions or issues to speak of although i feel the stabilizer strap could be a bit stronger and more intuitive with better store options. all around though, happy with the bag.
So there's a lot of complaints about the buckle being easy to accidentally open and I came up with a simple solution that works for me. By attaching the included key bungee to the attachment point and then I added a simple key ring to the buckle release side of the strap. Now, once I put it on, I can clip the key ring to the bungee for safety in case the buckle is opened by mistake. When not needed, the key bungee can slip into the rear strap storage area. See photos.
I really liked Bev's video about the 2L bag. I was looking for something minimalist to carry my camera while walking in the streets without showing off the camera. While they don't promote it as a camera bag, I am kind of stubborn, and was able the carry 2 cameras, a Medium format, and a MTF, with spare battery for each.
I purchased this sling through the Kickstarter campaign and have been using it regularly since it arrived. First and foremost, it’s a fantastic sling-lightweight, with just the right number of pockets and a perfect size. I use a lot of Peak Design products daily (backpacks, slings, camera gear, iPhone case). Not because I was a fan boy (though I am now), but because after trying gear from various brands, Peak Design’s products usually come out on top. Unfortunately, that’s not the case with this sling. While I appreciate how well it integrates into the Peak Design system and works with the small camera cube, I find it unusable as a camera bag. The main issue is the buckle: it opens far too easily, requiring only slight pressure. On several occasions, it has opened accidentally, and only by luck did my camera avoid damage. This is especially risky when the camera is attached to the capture clip, as it could fall to the ground unprotected. If this were any other brand, I might have given it two or three stars. However, since Peak Design has to hold up to its own high standards, giving more than one star wouldn’t be appropriate.
This sling has a major weak point and that's the buckle. It's SOOO easy to just barely brush against it and it pops open. This happens to me ALL the time in both sling and waist modes, and then the sling and everything I have in it hits the ground.
Got the bag on Feb. Been using them til now. Overall a good bag. But the bad design of the buckle really brings this to a 2 star. Don’t even remember that how many times the bag fell off cause the mis touch of the buckle. Lucky I catch it all the time. If you are going to carry a camera. Don’t get it. Not safe.
If you take the time to watch the videos and learn all the hidden gems, you'll really love this bag. It's so we'll thought out, very light weight and just the perfect addition to an all day carry.
I bought both the 2L and 7L Outdoor Sling and have used them both. The 2L is my everyday carry and I love it. It has a nice shape even though it's not structured, I really like the quality of it, the zipper etc. My only little gripe with it is that I can't get the "padded" part exactly right if I want a snug fit in front but it's good enough. What I have in the 2L is my sunglasses, a pack of gum, wallet, a bunch of keys in different key rings and car keys, airpods pro and some tissue paper since I'm a dad to small kids.
The 7L I use occasionally but it works great for those purposes, mostly when we bike ride as a family I can store snacks, keys, wipes, tissues, toys, some clothes like gloves if it gets too hot etc.The stabilizer strap is great, it works great when cycling. When I ride my bike alone I can also have my drone with me in my bag, I have the DJI Mini 4 Pro and its bag can fit nicely inside of this, I can still have some other things around it and because it has a stabilizer strap then I can actually bike ride with this which I couldn't with only the Mini 4 Pro and its bag.
I understand some people have had the strap come off but that has never happened to me, I really like the buckle.
