This bag is super and does everything I need it for .... used it for walks about 3-4 hours duration carrying an extra lens 135mm, phone and phone power bank, monocular, torch, lip balm etc. It is water proof and makes it easy to walk light but still change lenses quickly on separately carried camera. Used it in Namibia for 2 weeks every day, walking, helicoptering and looking for wildlife.
The bag is light, has some good organization with the variety of pockets, and holds an umbrella perfectly too. It hangs really nicely as a sling in the front so it works great with a travel backpack. Yes, the buckle is dangerous but easily modified. I added a couple pieces of gorilla tape inside the buckle and now it works as it should, requiring a very strong push to engage.
I bought the 4L originally thinking the 7L would be too big. And while I LOVE the 4L, the 7L compresses perfectly (almost as small as the 4L) to be a substitute for my 4L when I am not carrying a lot and/or want to be discreet with my carry. But when I do want to go big, the 7L decompresses and gives me the extra space I need. I use it as my personal item for carry on with my 11" iPad, various cables, AirPods, other travel sundries. Still low profile. Still compact. But easy carrying. When I get to my destination, I pull out the X-Small camera cube and carry my Nikon Zf w/ 40mm f/2.0 AND my Nikon 24-200mm lens.
I got the 4L sling a few weeks ago, I’ve taken it on two trips already and I love it! I haven’t had the issue about the clip opening that other mention. Mine stays on for a full day walking around the city. I totally recommend it.
On a recent 4 week trip I was using it to carry a camera with a Ape Case ACQB33 – Cubeze Flexible Padded Insert. For me it had better function than the PD insert but maybe a bit less padding. Truly amazing how much that little sling can carry. For all of it's positive attributes I believe the item should be recalled by PD or buyers sent a new shoulder strap. Like many others have noted in reviews if you grab the strap to reposition the sling in just the wrong way the clip way too easily opens and your bag can go flying to the earth below if you don't catch it in time. Happened to me 3 times with a protective lens filter cracking into the lens/cap. In my case tiny splinters and granular glass started to embed into the actual front lens element.
