Everything about this backpack is kind of just OK - if you are a "digital" person who wants to be an "outdoors" person. There's nothing really wrong with the construction of the pack, it's decent enough - but the thought that this would be an actual contender in the backpacking space is wild. I don't think I need to say anything more than the front pouch with the hanging string has no protection from the elements, unless you purchase and use the rain flu full time. It literally opens upwards. It's a wild choice for something marketed as a pack for being outside with. Wild.

Almost Perfect 🥲

SO CLOSE to being perfect!!! As a travel and outdoor photographer, I desperately wanted this bag to be my holy grail. However, there are two deal breakers for me: no luggage pass and no universal water bladder attachment. For the price, I feel luggage pass should be a standard feature. As for the water bladder, i am aware i can have it on the outside, but then i lose valuable quick access pocket real estate.
Other features i wish the pack had: A small amount of padding on the laptop sleeve so your camera equipment won’t scratch your laptop. If there were a way to cinch down the pack without impeding the side pockets, that would be awesome (but not a deal breaker). Would it be possible to have attachment points inside the pockets? And better grab handles - cord handles hurt with heavy loads
Thank you for reading! I will wait patiently for V2 🙂

PD have reached new level of form meets function

I've just received my Kickstarter 25L Eclipse Outdoor Backpack and I couldn't be more happy with it. Peak Design has once again overdelivered on quality and design. The build quality and finish are exceptional. I can't wait to start using it on a daily basis (I cycle to work, and hike on weekends). The design philosophy is different from their Everyday line of backpacks. It isn't made to be accessed from multiple angles, or sides, but it is designed to carry your gear on your back in the most ergonomic and comfortable fashion possible. If you have ever used a top loading backpack before, you'll be gobsmacked by how well this one performs. It is super light and comfortable on first wear. The straps are adjustable and super comfortable. Everything is easily adjustable. The back opening gives you access to all of your content in a similar fashion than the Travel line does. It fits a smedium camera cube, leaving room at the top for a xsmall cube volume equivalent. The use of the top opening (Ultracinch) takes a couple of times to get used to it, but becomes second nature right after. I love it. The side flex pockets are enormous and add extra capacity to your bag. This is the most flexible backpack I have every used. Combined with the extra straps and the ultralight packing cubes, you can custom design your backpack to fit your current needs. I can't wait to use it. Peak Design have reached a new level in form meets function. As usual, make sure to watch their videos, they are full of excellent tips. A++++

Nice, feature-rich; not enough support (yet?)

Got this 25L through the Kickstarter campaign. Really love the light weight and many adjustments for the bag to expand where and how I’d like. There are TONS of designed functional details, probably many I’m not aware of. It surprises me that Peak Design hasn’t (yet?) prepared for this backpack line’s rollout with a detailed user’s guide and videos. Feels like they’re undermining the potential splash by not providing feature guides. Example: I want to use the ultra lightweight packing bags as modular attachments (maybe even one of the new Outdoor Slings??) but there are only random images of where they attach without specifics about how to attach them and what it would look like on the backpack. I also picked up the optional waist belt but it didn’t come with any instructions on attaching it. (An added nit: Typos on the product card that came with the backpack and also on the website make me wonder about the degree of care that went into this rollout.) I’m hoping these user support misses are not an indication that Peak Design is slipping in their commitment to excellent gear and user experience. Still hopeful, but watching.

I just LOVE this backpack. At first, I have to say I was a bit skeptical, fearing that it might be over-engineered for my needs. Now I've put some use in it and I'm totally convinced this is the backpack that wins them all. First of all, look and material. It's sturdy but light while holding a certain shape. The comfort is just incredible and it doesn't change if half empty of fully loaded. The external attachment makes it an incredible travel machine (I use the cubes for snacks, jacket, extra pairs of shoes or towels when on the road for more than 2 days). Lastly, the look which makes it perfect for a day in the city but also charging my hometown trails with the bike.
Well done PD!

Just received my 25l from Kickstarter backing.About time we get an outdoor photo pack. The cloud color-way is beautiful. Lol at it getting dirty. It’s a really interesting material that seems like it will slough off everything. But if not basic care is the way to go with all outdoor stuff. The smedium fits perfectly and there is tons of room above it for other items. And pockets galore add extra space. And then the cord hooks add even more options. Shoulder straps are uber comfortable. Another perfectly engineered product from PD.

Smart system for every outdoor situation

Literally, the best bag in my collection, it looks great, is comfortable (5”6 male), and versatile as hell. Have used it every day since it landed. Light weight sling bags and packing cubes just bring it together into a flexible system for me to use as an EDC when I’ve got gym and work. Perfect for me, who works remotely on different sites and travels across big cities and country towns. And then, it adapts when I need to carry more gear than usual as a parent or on a weekend outing on the trail. Best Kickstarter I’ve founded yet!

Got this backpack on Kickstarter, was very happy and trustful of the whole process. Peak Design was a new manufacturer to me and I’m very glad I found them. I haven’t put this bag through all its paces but the quality of materials, versatility, and construction exceeded my expectations. We will see about the durability but their registration and warranty are very reassuring to me. Actually came back to buy some of the packing cubes and pouches and these have been similarly terrific
