This Fall, I started to have problems with intermittent coughing throughout the day and night. One time, when we visited a couple at their home, I didn't seem to have any problems while we were there. They had a humidifier running then. So, we decided to get our own.
We bought this one a little over 3 weeks ago to try. After several days, I could actually tell the difference. My coughing decreased. And after over a week of use, I didn't have any more coughing. We have been letting it run 24/7. I hope it would at least last until Spring of next year. I would really be glad if it lasts 3 years with the way we use it.

This humidifier was recommended by a friend. After trying a few different brands and types of humidifiers over the last several years, I’ve finally found one that significantly raises the humidity level in my studio apartment with high ceilings. No complicated parts to clean, just disinfect the base and replace the wicks when necessary. Done!

I bought this for a guitar room that needs humidity through the fall and spring months. I have been wishing to find a humidifier that does not need daily filling, get mineral buildup in the mechanical components, or leave a filmy residue. This is it! It is being used in a 12 x 15 ft room, I keep the door cracked and using a separate humidistat, the room is maintained right where I need it, the t took a little fussing with the setting to find the sweet spot. I only need to fill it about every three days.

For what it is worth I am happy with this but with some caveats that may be more related to my water quality then the device itself hence the 5 stars I gave.
Understand I had the same evaporative type device up in the northeast a decade ago and now that I am in the southeast I am surprised that the city water in both regions has the hardness and mineral content that stains the wicks for these.
Continuing on, and with that said I am sure distilled water is the way to go but I can’t imagine purchasing and hauling gallons of water from the store to my home every week.
Keep in mind these wicks dry out on the ends that are not submerged.
Just to be fair I think semi daily maintenance is the only way to subvert the issues of grimy water, mineral deposits on the wicks, and slime buildup on the interior surfaces.
Only thing is that is a lot if work to achieve moist air.
Eventually after 3 weeks of ownership and nasty looking wicks I have cleaned the unit, replaced the wicks, and added my own charcoal ‘activated’ filters in front of the wicks in an attempt to have cleaner wicks and water.
But to the question of “does it work?”, well yes!
In a large room with low not extreme outdoor humidity this unit will maintain around 52% humidity.
Don’t open the door to the room or performance decreases of course.
Extremely low temps during the colder and driest winter this year this thing doesn’t really keep up beyond 40%.
Now going forward I plan to use this humidifier with the bedroom door closed overnight and once awake in the morning I will refill the unit adding a 1/4 cup of vinegar but will not run it until 12 hours later at sleep time.
Each week I will rinse it or clean it.

Love our Vornado humidifiers!! They are strong enough to add humidity to an entire room but you can also use them to add humidity to a bedroom!! You can adjust the fan to adjust the amount of air that flows into the room!! Also, you can use tap water!! No more dry and chapped lips and dry skin from dry rooms from winter forced heat!! I’m so very happy with our purchase!!
