Was excited to receive the Peak Design magnetic wallet because I wanted a slim stand wallet that would fit cards securely. The magnetic flap seems to do that. And it is a slim profile that fits in a back pocket. The stand feature is great. BUT, line others have noted, I’m mystified why the wallet does not attach with the same secure clip that holds the phone to my motorcycle. The magnet is strong but not secure. When I push the cards back down into the wallet, the wallet gets pushed off the phone. It doesn’t actually connect to the “female” indentation in the phone case! Seems like that would have been easy to do, no? Perhaps the next version, but as for this one, okay not what I expected. Also, the wallet reddish color does not match my phone case reddish color. Again, seems like it should?
I have to start this by saying that I *love* Peak Design. I have multiple bags, anchors on every camera (and my wallet and my keys,) tethers in my purses, capture clips on strap I may want to carry a camera on, the phone cases (both regular and Gnar) and not only the current tripod but also plans to get the new model.
That's why it hurts to say... this wallet stinks. It doesn't feel like the construction I expect from PD. It looks like it's been glued together from scrap fabric. Like something you'd expect to see on a YouTube tutorial explaining how to fashion a phone tripod using just a hinge and some glue.
The big fault though is the magnets. These are *weak* magnets. I have flung the wallet off my phone and onto the ground maybe ten times in the *two* days I've been using it. I would feel at fault if I was using some 3rd party case with it, but it's *the* PD Everyday phone case. It's just not safe to use this wallet with cards you care about. It really snaps right off with very little force. Even just grazing the wallet with a finger causes it to start twisting off.
i wanted to love this product but the major flaw in my opinion is the movement of the wallet which is especially noticeable when you want to flip out the stand. It requires holding the wallet in place while opening the flap, you cannot just pull out the stand or else the entire wallet comes off, or slides around. A few other reviewers have made the same comment, the magnet for the stand is stronger than the magnet to hold it onto the phone. And it has fallen off once so far, in the two days I've had it. I bought it for a trip but I am now skeptical about using it with my ID and credit cards in the holder. Besides that one major issue, the product is well made and the design is beautiful. If only the magnet would stay on, it would definitely be a 5 star product.
This case adds quite a bit of weight in my opinion. Brilliant idea how this works and how card case comes out is easy. The card slot or holder part struggles to be pushed back into the wallet and wish it is smoother for this price point. Magnet is strong and attaches to the phone well.
I have had my new phone case and magnetic phone wallet for about a month now and it’s amazing the only down side is sometimes the magnet on the back that keeps the wallet clasped to the back plate that attaches to the phone will pop open doesn’t detract from the fact this has been the best tech based purchased I’ve made in a while the wallet has been such a boon to keep track of all the things I need to tote around throughout the day
Great design and feel. Fits 3 cards and 2 to 3 banknotes perfectly. No issues with the magnets adherence to the back of the iPhone. I wish it was a little less expensive, but I'm satisfied with the purchase.
I do like the fact that cards are much easier to get out. I was hoping it would stick to my existing case like it does not. It’s about the same as my Apple wallet and since the AW has tracking which has saved me a few times I will probably not use this one.
