I loved this set, I did not notice before I bought there was a led lego in the kit. There is a spinning light to project a small image inside which was a nice touch! Loved the little figurines and touches… my bf especially liked the snake hat.

I bought this LEGO set for Chinese New Year. At first, I thought the lantern would be really pretty. However, after building it, I found that it looks quite cheap. Moreover, the top part (or lid) is simply placed on top without any bricks connecting it to the second level, making it unstable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I agree with other reviewers that some of the steps: e.g. make 8 of these, etc, are a bit tedious. A lot of small pieces that don't fit together too well makes it a challenging build experience. The final piece looks good but I wish LEGO can design it so the image would go around by a motor with the light in the center. That's how I remember how one of these lanterns work when I was a kid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It was very fun to build. The only downfall is that it is supposed to represent the 'Year of the Snake' but there was only one picture of a snake, which was a small one.

Very entertaining to build.
I'll be honest was sold as soon as I saw the year of the snake helmet.
I enjoyed modifying the three included stands with my extras.
Made an extra shadow puppet holder.
Was able to give the dumpling stand better upright stability with a dowel piece and two of the new gold hooks.
I like the light brick, only wish better stability in spinning as seems to come loose easily.
Real fun set!
