Radio has build issues

I do like how it turned out but it did need some alterations. The directions were good except for a few illustration angles. The build itself had two major issues. The first was the left knob, the power knob. After I put it together the first time the knob fell out of place and I had to tear the whole thing apart to fix it. Warning ⚠️ do not put in the front panel until it is functioning correctly. It is impossible to remove without the whole thing coming apart. I found that if added a bit more support to the knob and take a few peices out that got in the way of that, it worked well. They were not necessary to the esthetic and made it not fall apart after the first couple of uses. The second part is the right side panel. It is impossible to get it to lay flat. The little red peice with the white stick (pictured) that is made for it to stay on makes it bow out and looks terrible. The only way I found it to work was when I took the red piece out entirely. Now it looks great and functions the way it is meant to. Took me ripping it apart two or three times to get it right which was frustrating. But all in all I like it.

Simply Lovely

This was a fun set to build with some unique pieces in it. It really does remind you of an old radio. The little audio clips are are nice bonus and actually having to turn the radio "on" to hear them is cool.
One of my favorites this year.

Overall it's just ok.

It's not really a bad model, but there are a few places in the design/building process I think should have been revisited before its general release. The biggest one is that the spiral gear is twisted in the wrong direction. The movement of the needle should have followed the rotation of the dial. Clockwise should move it to the right, and counterclockwise should move it to the left. Next would be the layout of the clear window pieces. I think it would have served a better aesthetic if the line break in the window had overlapped with the line break in the frequency display. Then, when assembling the front grill, there is a line of three 1x8 with rail bricks directly above the LEGO logo. These bricks are only supported on one end. Some small modifications or different length choices could have had these rails supported on both ends, making the overall front piece just a bit easier to build and more sturdy.

Great look bad design

This is the first time I've felt the need to review a Lego set. I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she just got around to building it in late June. Looks? Great, nice color scheme and size. Structure and design? The worst Lego set we've ever seen. Worse than the back & top of the VW van if you know that set. Several pieces pop off as they are held by 1 stud when it should be 2 or even 4. The frame twists if you pick it up by the handle. The on/off switch works part of the time. You have to break the back panel off to get your phone in or out. The clamp holding the phone inside is nice. We are going to take a lot apart and Technic a bunch of structure into it and make a hinged back panel. Just a heads up to anyone who things this will be great right out of the box.

Cute but fussy
on July 3, 2024

As several other reviewers have mentioned, the mechanism for operating the sound brick does not work well. I was able to get the on/off & tuning mechanism to work right away, but the tuner usually jams when the sound brick is installed. I have taken the set apart and reassembled several times with similar results. The completed build is also quite delicate and fragile.
I have a hard time understanding why so many people who had the same problems have given this a 4-star review - this is the most disappointing Lego set I've built to date.
The radio is cute though, I'll give it that.

Really fun but missed the target
on June 16, 2024

Hello,
This is a really fun build however missed the mark on making this really work. I've seen and have FM Radios the same size (or smaller) than the "sound brick". I would also would recommend a light brick inside as well to light up the dial. Putting your phone inside is fun for a little while but not realistic.
Still a fun project altogether.
Hope this helps, Ward's World

Disappointed in product

I was so excited to see this product. We have a new game room and this would be a perfect addition for music and whimsy. Unfortunately, the last piece is the sound piece and I could not get it to work when I turned the on/off knob. Figuring I made an error somewhere, I took it apart and redid the inside. Again, the sound brick did not work. Another reviewer said the sound brick should never be the last piece for this exact reason. I will have my son who is a very advanced builder look at this to see if I made the same mistake twice.

What’s the Point?

I assembled the radio in two hours, however don’t understand the benefit. The instructions tell me to install my phone inside the completed kit. I can do that without having to buy the LEGO kit.
The radio looks nice but it’s something I would have passed on if I knew then what I know now.
