Poorer Experience than ever for 2024's taxes

Emailed prices for this year's online tax forms/filings were misleading/false. We were charged more than what the offers said and more than what was online as we started to purchase it. The email from Intuit to get this year's Turbo Tax was misleading - after calling (very helpful gal) the whole truth was explained. While doing the online taxes, the repeated upselling to try to 'trick' people into paying another $50 for the tax helper was annoying, to say the least. (No means no, stop asking over and over again.) The Turbo Tax Advantage, the extra upselling, the prices we got charged versus the prices advertised in the emails being different and the prices shown on the website during the actual purchase phase being different made this year's experience with Turbo Tax the worst one we've ever had - we've used it for many, many years. Being 'nickeled and dimed' for every separate idea and item, for things that are free in many other places is wrong and it stings in this horribly expensive economy - senior citizens on fixed incomes shouldn't be taken advantage of, just so a company can make more money. Next year we will be carefully exploring other and more affordable options. (1st the state filing was advertised as free, but then not part of the "Basic". 2nd, doing the online state forms was listed as being $25, but then during the online filing steps, it said it was $40. Then, after doing everything, the charge for including the state forms with our federal form was actually $45. There was another upsell listed at the end of the filing process for $20, for something "Advantage" related that was supposed to be free. It took a few steps of "back" to get rid of that. Intuit conned/scammed us of at least $20 and almost got another extra $20 out of us, as well as the multiple times the trickery tried to prompt a 'yes' for the additional $50 for the tax helper.) Going through too many extra steps to NOT pay additional fees beyond was was advertised is another way companies scam/con/trick people into paying more than they should for something.

We purchased the product at the store and it still made us pay 2 times while trying to do our taxes. Makes no sense.

Had some difficulty when switching between 'do it myself' and Forms, and then back again because the process wasn't clear; eventually I got it all sorted out and am happy I used it because my situation this year was slightly complicated.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
