ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER TURBO-IRRITATION

I HAVE BEEN RETIRED SINCE 2005 AND THIS YEAR, YOU HAVE MADE THIS SOFTWARE EVEN WORSE. I RECEIVE ONE PENSION FROM DFAS AND ONE FROM UNITED AIRLINES BUT YOU KEEP ASKING ABOUT A "403". THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ME AND AFTER 20 YEARS, THIS SHOULD BE APPARENT AND SHOULD BE EASIER BUT THAT'S NOT THE CASE. EVERY YEAR IN THE SAME COMPUTER, YOU NEVER SUCCEED IN FINDING THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S TAX RETURN ON THE HARD DISC AND YOU PUT THE COPY THERE AFTER FILING. SO WHY CAN'T YOU FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU DEPOSITED IN MY COMPUTER'S HARD DISC?? THIS JUST GETS MORE IRRITATING EACH YEAR.

TurboTax is a very trying experience!

Unfortunately, TurboTax gets worse every year rather than better. This year, the download interface with Schwab worked poorly. TT kept dropping one of my 1099Rs. I would download it, answer the questions, look at the Tax result and come back later to find the 1099R was gone. After three similar failures, I finally entered this one account manually. The other accounts 199Rs were OK. Then TT couldn't file because a particular form hadn't been completed. No problem. After a few days wait, I got an email that the forms were ready. When I opened TT it reported that my Tax Owed went up by $13,000! That about gave me a heart attack. I had already had my return checked for errors. I started going through every 1099R again and answered all the questions again and suddenly the tax reverted back to its pervious amount.
Also, I have multiple accounts with Schwab. When I did the download of tax data, NONE of the account numbers were shown so it took a lot of research to figure out what was what. Eventually I entered the last 4 digits in the NAME space to tell one account from another. there are too many situations like these. Suffice it to say it was a very trying experience. The only good thing was they gave me free Audit Defense. Nice touch. I'll do some research on alternatives before I use TT next year.

Not impressed with basic turbotax

The basic is as expensive as the delux by the time you buy the desktop and the state and pay for the state filing. The basic is terrible. I studied accounting and I'm less than impressed.

Disappointed with Turbo Tax

I was disappointed with turbo tax this year. Too much information was hidden from me and I was required to do extensive exploration to what I had entered. I kept getting the response "you have already entered the information" -- I WANTED to see what info I had entered. I have been using Turbo Tax for probably 20 years and don't understand why you would degrade it. The changes made Turbo tax unpleasant to deal with. I will probably not use turbo tax next year - I have to be confident in my tax returns and this year I am not.

Turbo Tax helped me for 20 years

I have used Turbo Tax for many years--probably at least 20. I love the way they guide me through all the latest laws and are able to fill out SO many complicated forms for me.
