Easy to use, great connectivity to smoke from afar

Purchased this smoker in fall of 2023 after a terrible experience with Masterbuilt and their lack of support. The smoker quickly connected via bluetooth and wifi allowing me to easily control the unit from inside with our cool falls and cold winters in Wisconsin. Smoked turkeys at thanksgiving and some salmon prior to that. I have found the temperature to be very consistent and meat probe accurate. Two things I have noticed are I haven't been able to form bark on my recent pork shoulders, now thinking about it the turkey wasn't as dark as previous smoker experiences either. Also the cleanout of pellets to change wood flavors is not the easiest, the rear door allow most out but there is still some thats harder to remove but can be removed with a shop vac after removing the guards in the hopper. These last 2 reasons are the only reason I dropped it to 4 star instead of 5.

Outstanding Customer Service

I have had it for about a year and worked great until just recently when the temp fluctuations became very erratic. Tech. Support is superb, sent the sensor immediately and it will go in today. My only regret is that I didn’t buy the 5 series. Makes phenomenal jerky and bacon.

Excellent Design

I bought this after using a smoker for the last 7 years, first time trying Pitboss and it’s legit. Very happy with this purchase it holds temps extremely well, even when it’s 30 degrees outside. Would buy again in a minute. The interior and exterior lights are a nice bonus feature!

Love my smoker!

Just bought my smoker a week ago, and I love the VST feature. I upgraded from the Austin XL Onyx edition. I bought it with the cover but the cover was for the smaller vertical smoker. I returned it and bought the right size cover. Having trouble connecting to the app, but PB says they are working on it. Hope it connects soon.

Wi-Fi and BT connection

Live everything about this smoker except the BT and WiFi connections are terrible. My phone has full bar connection to WiFi but the smoker won’t stay connected for some reason. Part of the reason I bought this was for the app connection and not to walk out there all the time to check the smoker. Why is the connection having so many issues staying connected? Is this a common issue with this smoker?
Of WiFi and BT would stay connected, this would be a 5 star review, hands down!

Junk!! Don't buy this smoker!!!

This smoker has been a huge waste of money. Worked well first 2 smoking sessions, then last 10 smokes it has failed every time. I get constant pellet errors. I use Pitboss pellets bit get pellet error the entire time I try to smoke.
I would look at a different brand of smoker all together.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Questionable smoker

I have the pitbull's pro series and it is nothing but give me problems with the auger my brother purchased this for me he has also had 2 of his replaced one went on fire and the other 1 just stop working now supposedly they are going to help him with another 1 well where is my help for a new auger that's its .

Never works, repaired 4 times now

Bought new from a sporting good store in November of 2023. Worked well for one month then it shorted out. Since then I have replaced the control board 3 times and the heating element 4 times. They always send new parts. However, smoker will work once after each repair and then randomly it will trip my GFI in my garage as soon as it is plugged in. I have ruined over $75 in meat when I tried to smoke something over night and the smoker malfunctioned. Do not buy this product, and avoid this company. They refuse to make it right for a junk product. They actually accused me of having the wrong operating manual and blamed the store I purchased it from. Like they sneak in at night and play switch-a-roo with the manuals in the packaged boxes.
