Smoker temperature off by 90Deg

The purpose of an automatic smoker is to maintain temperature. This smoker does that, just at the wrong temperature. Controller indicates 230 deg but several oven thermometers all read considereably less. Had to set the smokr to 300 degF to get the actual temp to 225. Be very very careful when using this as it can cause your food to be undercooked and lead to food born illness.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Updates and app ruined my smoker!

I’ve had my pit boss pro series for a couple years now and up until several months ago it was great. When the new app came out and I switched to it along with updating my smoker it will now only set temperature ranges in 50 degree increments where it use to set in 10 degree increments! From complaints I’ve read the only way to fix this is by purchasing a new control board which is utterly ridiculous! Extremely dissatisfied!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this smoker in July. I finally got to use it after returning the first 2 with bad augers and the other one with a bad fan. Used it once now all I get is a ERL code and it won’t heat up. Save your money. Dig a hole and use charcoal it will probably work better.

Will not keep temperature. Buy a Traeger instead.

Was going to use my Pit Boss smoker this year to cook my turkey. I used it 3 times before and it worked just fine but today when cooking my turkey the smoker would not hold the temp. I had it pre heating for about 45 min and would not get past 185. Temp was set at 230. I had to bump the temp to 300 to get it to get up to 230. I set the temp back to 230 and I would stay there for about 10 minute before it would drop back to 185. I have never had this issue with it. Out door temp is about 25 with no wind so this should not be an issue. I finally got fed up with it and transferred the turkey to my Traeger. Last year I cook my turkey in my Traeger in blizzard like condition and never had an issue. Don’t waste your money. Save up and buy a Traeger. I will never buy another pit boss.

The unit was defective from the box, the digital readout did not say SET, it said SEL and the whole control panel failed to blackness shortly after first coming on.

Doesn’t heat up

I received the smoker yesterday and am trying to initiate the Smoker Burn-Off process. The heating element on the smoker doesn’t warm up except when using the Fast Smoke button and even then shuts off after 60 seconds every time.
