I completed my taxes and owed both state(s) and federal, went thru all of the hoops, the stupid PIN, etc. Set it up to pay from my checking account and completed my taxes as I have every other year. Just got a letter from the IRS saying I didn't pay? There is no way to look up payment information in the application. At least not that I can see. There is no indicator to show taxes as PAID. It just shows filling status as submitted and accepted. Serious lack of the most critical piece of information, are your taxes paid. Plus, there needs to be a option for single payment setup, so were not forced to enter payment for each state we buy, each return we file and pay, etc. One time is all it should have, then let us select it when we file each return, double or in my case multiple entry of the same information increases error rates. Double entry in computer software is just stupid. I have reviewed my taxes several times and can not see why it did not pay, that I did not pay, or that my taxes are not paid. Luckily it is a small amount, and the penalty was minor, but I have never, not paid my taxes on time. This may be the last time I use software like this as it seem computers and software are loosing the reasons for having them in the first place, accuracy and efficiency.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Most frustrating thing is the program doesnt recognize a short sale. It insists that the sale date has to be after the buy date. It made me make up phony dates for 800 short sales that I did. It's amazing to me that software from a tax company is not designed to accept short sales. Also, when downloading data from my broker, the software went into a seemingly infinite loop. It should be programmed with a status bar so you know it isnt frozen. The help feature was not useful for finding my capital gains carryover to the next year. I had to google to find out what form and line its on. Your search feature should be able to find any common subject. I will not be purchasing this software again till you make it user friendly for short option sales.

Turbo Tax had numerous problems this year for me. After using it for years, I would highly recommend H&R Block, which I used to recover from numerous issues in Turbo Tax. H&R works great with Windows 10. Turbo does not.
