Good software but not always seamless for users

I have used this software for some years so clearly I like it, but there are processing issues that will be frustrating even if the final outcome is acceptable. Examples are: 1)
The level of documentation/explanation is uneven. In general, less-common issues and forms are explained less well than more common issues. 2) The program is also uneven on the transparency of worksheets and forms. During the generally-helpful final review process, a worksheet will appear which I never saw directly for me to correct or verify. It would make more sense to take me back to the data entry screen where the error was introduced originally. 3) In at least one case, I marked a box in error. It would NOT let me uncheck the box and mark the correct option. Since the preliminary interview screens precede knowing ifa particular form is actually required, that error can happen. 4) I was filling out a particular state's return for the first time. The program allowed me to mark the "file electronically" box, but when I got to the point of filing a message said I must file on paper. When I printed the state form to file, the instructions said I must also print the federal return. Why the program did not know at the first stage that electronic filing was not accepted in my case and why the software knew at the printing stage that I would need to print the federal form for inclusion but did not just do that are examples of unnecessary shifting of work to the user.

Software was very good. The only issue I found was when I took photos and transferred W-2’s info. All boxes checked but at end of review I had errors and had to manually enter some of the info. Will definitely use next year. I believe I’ve been using this software since 1997.
