Purchased downloadable Deluxe version which was fairly easy to use especially with being able to import most 1099s. Accuracy check and e-File are great.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents

Great Federal Software, State - not so much

The Colorado state tax interview led me to believe that there was a credit for home solar installations. After wading through the documents that had to be sent along with the return (it could not be filed electronically), I realized that there is no credit.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R software for years and it seems to be getting worse. I made a change from a business expense to a "other income" expense and it flagged it as a issue that I needed to fix before I could submit. It did not tell me why or give me much information at all. I was very disappointed, it took me a couple of hours to redo my forms before it got it right.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

H&R Tax software is great. Mostly easy to use the one suggestion I have is for it to allow you to import PDF's from your computer instead of manual entry or log into your account being the only input options for Dividends and interest etc.,
Cons: Hard to import documents

Have used for many years and am generally happy. I would have thought that there would be prompts under dependents advising on the clip level for earned income maximum for claiming someone as a dependent. When you input capital gains and losses the screens don't line up after inputting. If you aren't aware of this, I would have to demonstrate what I mean by this but it's confusing. We entered or capital transactions several times to make sure we input correctly and tied out, but the screens did not match the transactions.
